What will you do in thesummer? Here is my plan. I will volunteer (当志愿者)at ARG (Animal Rights Group). ARG takes care of pets without a home.

Sometimes, people move away and they can't take their pets with them. Or, people are too old or sick and they can't take care of their pets. Or sometimes, people are not nice to their pets.

See this puppy. His name is Rocket. His family left him alone in a field. Luckily, ARG found Rocket and took him to the animal centre.

ARG needs a lot of volunteers. I'm going to volunteer four times a week. I will walk the dogs and l will help with the other animals too. I love animals.

Over the past 6 years, Zhang Chaofan has given away 1.35 million yuan and raised 5.2 million yuan from the public to help more than 400 people with health problems—including teachers with cancer (癌症) and disabled children in poor families—learn traditional Chinese culture.

Zhang, 29, was born without a left arm in Changchun, Jilin, but her hard work to become stronger has encouraged many people. She was chosen along with 67 other honorees (领奖人) to receive the Eighth National Ethical Role Model award (第八届全国道德模范提名奖) at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 5th, 2021.

In 2015, Zhang set up a handwriting and painting school in Changchun. When she found that some parents were unable to pay for their children's education, she made the lessons free and began providing 300, 000yuan every year to help them.

In early 2020, her school was made to suspend all courses because of COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) but it didn't stop her from helping the poor families. She raised more than 8.9 millionyuan and gave them away to Hubei hospitals.

"Women in the new times should have the courage to create value and also have a sense of social duty," she said. "It is my great honor to be chosen as a model. This will become a driving force for me to move ahead and keep helping the poor and the disabled."

The kites in Weifang never disappoint. Every year the Weifang International Kite Festival amazes visitors with creative kites, as "paper birds" of varied designs keep appearing in the sky.

Kites in China can originate from the Warring States Period when Mozi made the first "wooden kite". Kites didn't actually become popular until the Ming Dynasty. By the middle of the Qing Dynasty, artists who were good at kite making began to appear in Weifang. In 1984, the first Weifang International Kite Festival was held.

Kites were used in China during the wars at the very beginning. For example, they can be used to record wind readings, similar to ship flags at sea. Over time, kites became connected with relaxing activities, and were often flown during festivals and holidays.

Today, kite-flying is a popular activity in China, and the Weifang International Kite Festival is one of the largest kite festivals in the world. In 2024, 622 kite artists from 59 countries and areas took part in the event. Zhang Xiaodong,74, has attended all the festivals. In the early days, he only brought traditional kites to take part in the competitions, but this time, he used sound and light to make the story of Chang'e flying to the moon come "alive".

The festival is a great platform to share kite-making skills. It also brings the people of China and other countries closer. As one citizen put it, "No matter how far away kite lovers go, there is always a 'thread' in their heart that can pull them together."

When thinking of the Arctic（北冰洋 ）, some people may imagine an icy land of white snow.  And other people may imagine it as the last really clean place left on Earth.  In fact, we have polluted the deepest oceans with plastic rubbish, and now, CNN says, "It's the Arctic's turn. "

German scientists have recently found microplastics in Arctic snow. Microplastics are pieces of plastic smaller than 5 millimeters.  Sadly, the scientists found 1,800 pieces of microplastics per liter（升）of snow.  That may cause terrible air pollution. 

How is plastic pollution reaching the Arctic? According to scientists, "It's clear that most of the microplastics in the snow come from the air. They fall off plastic objects and are moved by the wind.  They mix with ice in the air and fall to the ground as snow. "

Are they bad for us? We do know that our bodies cannot take in "large" pieces of microplastics.  However, if the plastics are small enough, they can find ways into our bodies and stay there for a long time, which can be bad for our health. What's more, earlier studies have shown that microplastics may contribute to lung cancer risk. 

Microplastics have also been found in rivers and oceans around the world.  Research has found that they flow over long distances and into our oceans, damaging ecosystems along the way.  When we wash clothes with plastic fibers, they start in our wastewater.  The wastewater then flows into rivers and out to sea.  They are eaten by sea animals there. If people then eat these animals, it means that we're eating the plastic as well. 

Computers are useful machines. They can help people a lot in their life. For example, they can help people to save much time to do much work, and they can help people to work out many problems they can't do easily. Our country asks everyone to learn to use computers except the old people.

Today more and more families own computer. Parents buy computers for their children. They hope that computers can help them to improve their studies at school. But many of their children use computers to play games and watch videos. For most students, computers cannot help them to study better but make them fall behind. So computers are locked in boxes by parents.

In some other countries, even some scientists also hate computers. They say computers let millions of people lose their jobs or bring them a lot of trouble. Will computers really bring trouble to people or can they bring people happiness? It will be decided(被决定) by people themselves!
