Helen who comes from America is my good friend. She is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(秀丽的;标致的) girl. And she has a lot of {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(梦想). First, she enjoys cooking so much that she would like to spend hours {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(相混合;融合) things up to make different desserts, such as chocolate, cakes, and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(小甜饼;曲奇饼). Last weekend, she {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(邀请) us to her home to try some desserts. They taste very delicious. What's more, she likes travelling very much. But she hasn't been to the Eiffel {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(塔). Why? Because she can't {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(付得起) to visit it. She also hopes to have a trip to Mars. Some {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(科学家) believe if the environment on Mars is the same as that of our earth, perhaps people will {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(搬家) to Mars in the future. That {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(听起来) not bad. She is looking forward to it.

"I'm so excited to build sandcastles!" said James. "I'm going to build a big one, with lots of rooms!"

"Your sandcastle will be good, but not as good as 1 !" said Nova. "Why don't we have a competition(比赛)?" James thought it was a good idea and 2 her.

They were busy building their sandcastles. Nova built a great one! It had big towers and little windows. She even made sand chairs for little crabs to relax in!

 When seeing it, James was very 3 . At first, he was so sure his sandcastle would be pretty good for a king. However, each time he tried to build a tower on the top of the sandcastle, it didn't work. Then he tried to place other decorations(装饰品) on it, 4 they only made it worse! The sandcastle finally became a disaster(彻底的失败) and he knew Nova already 5 him.

 Nova looked over at James's sandcastle, and then at James. Watching him sit by his sandcastle sadly, she thought she should offer some 6 .

"Do you know what could be more fun, James?" asked Nova.

"What?" sniffled James.

"You and I, build a sandcastle together!" said Nova. "This one took me too much time, and there are so many crabs. It will be too 7 with only one sandcastle! They' ll need more than one sandcastle!"

"Oh, really?" James said. "I think everyone can do it well 8 me. I'm afraid I' ll ruin(摧毁) it."

"You won't, James!" And so Nova built the sandcastle and James placed all the decorations on it. After finishing it, they looked at their work 9 .

"Now, that's what I call a sandcastle!" James said with a big smile.

"Next time, let's work together again!" said Nova. "We make a great 10 !"

Wang Xinyao and her parents will never forget the special day— July 22nd, 2022. On that day, Wang 1 the admission letter (录取通知书) from Peking University in Beijing. Two important people from the university travelled to Wang's high school in Changchun, Jilin Province to give her the2 news. 

In the 2022 gaokao, Wang got a 3 of 618. As we know, it isn't easy for most high school students to 4 that high scores. And Peking University is most Chinese students' dream university. You can 5 how difficult it is for a girl who can't walk. Wang Xinyao hurt badly  6 she was practising dance moves at the age of 6. Her parents took her to many  7 in Beijing, but doctors said she would never walk.8 , her parents didn't give up. Over the next two years, the family9 in Beijing for Wang's rehabilitation (康复). 

"She often asked us when she could return to school and whether she would be 10 to walk and run like other children," her dad said. After returning to Changchun, they went to the local Education Bureau (教育局) for 11 . Finally Wang Xinyao went to study at Shuguang Primary School. 

"My daughter is 12 to meet so many kind teachers and classmates. From primary school to high school, her classrooms are always on the first floor," her dad said. To 13 the gaokao, Wang studied much harder. She never went to bed before midnight,14 during her third year. 

"I want to thank my parents, my teachers and classmates.15 their care and help, I would never have been able to make my dream come true," said Wang. 

 There's a special place in Taiwan, China. It's Qingjing Farm. I had some free time last weekend,1 I went there for a visit.

 The farm has 2 parts(部分). I went to Green Grassland first. It was so big and green, and I saw a lot of 3 . I also saw a machine(机器) selling sheep food, so I bought some. As I walked around, I stopped to 4 the sheep here and there. That was a lot of fun! Soon, it was time for the farm's sheep show. My favorite part of it was sheep shearing(剪羊毛). A man 5 a sheep's hair. It was so easy for him and he 6 in just 5 minutes.

 After that,I went to the second part of the farm— Guanshan Pastoral Area. I watched a horse 7 there. Two men did a lot of cool tricks(技巧) with the horses. It was really 8 .

 Then I made my way to Shoushan Park. It's the farm's last part. I saw a lot of trees and animals and took many 9 with my smartphone.

I had a good time on Qingjing Farm! I want to visit it again. If you pay a visit 10 the farm, you' ll like it too.

Ye Lianping is a 96-year-old retired teacher from a village in Anhui Province. He has been teaching left-behind children there for free during the past 24 years.

Teaching has always been an important part of Ye's life. After he retired, he began offering free English-language classes to left-behind children. He first set up a classroom in his own house. Later, with the help of the government, he got another two classrooms. To provide education for more children, he also set up the Ye Lianping Scholarship Fund with almost all his money and the donations (捐赠物) from others. So far, it has helped hundreds of left-behind children.

Ye is quite generous to these children, but he spends very little money on himself. He lives a very simple life. He lives with his wife in a house built over 30 years ago. He never buys any drinks. And he has been wearing the same jacket for over 40 years.

Although he is getting older, Ye is never tired of teaching. In 2018, he got hurt while riding a bicycle to buy vegetables. Instead of resting in bed for recovery, he quickly returned to class with a walking stick.

Ye is racing against time to spend as much time as possible on left-behind children's education. People call him "the candlelight of the village". But he said, "I'm just a firefly (萤火虫), making little light, not as much light as a candlelight can give."

 In front of a store, a man stood with an unit cigar in his mouth. When a policeman came close to him, the man quickly explained, "I' m just waiting for a friend. It' s an appointment(约定) made twenty years ago. It may sound funny, but I' ll explain. Twenty years ago, there was a restaurant here."

"It was pulled down five years ago," the policeman replied.

 The man lit his cigar and continued, "Twenty years ago tonight,I dined with my best friend Jimmy Wells. The next morning I was to travel to the West to make my fortune. We made an appointment to meet here exactly twenty years later. I travelled a thousand miles for this, believing Jimmy would come if he's alive."

 After some time,a tall man approached the waiting man. "Is that you, Bob?" he asked.

"Is that you, Jimmy Wells?" the waiting man exclaimed.

"Yes, it's Bob. I knew I'd find you here if you were still alive," said the tall man.

 They went to a bright coffee shop to talk about old times. But when the man from the West looked at the tall man's face, he suddenly stopped. "You' re not Jimmy Wells," he said. "Twenty years isn't enough to completely change a person's appearance."

"It sometimes changes a good man into a bad one," the tall man replied. "You' ve been under arrest (逮捕) for ten minutes. Chicago police expected you might come here. Here' s a note from Jimmy Wells."

 The man from the West read the note:"Bob:I was on time. When you lit your cigar, I saw you were the man wanted in Chicago. I got another policeman to arrest you. Jimmy."
