This is Lucy and that is Lily. Lucy is 12 years old. Lily is 12 years old, too. Lucy looks like Lily and Lily looks like Lucy, too.

    They look the same. They are twins. But they have different hobbies. Lucy likes listening to music and drawing pictures. Lily likes dancing and playing basketball. They are American. They are new students in Jim's class .They are in Grade Six. Jim often looks after them. They are new friends. They go to a shop. They would like something to eat and drink. Lucy would like some bread.   Lily would like a bottle of orange. Jim would like some apples.  

A Concert

    The Newtown School will have a concert on Children's Day. Ann, Ken and David will play together in the concert. Ann will play the piano, Ken will play the guitar, and David will play the drums. Mocky will not play in the concert, but he will go, too.

    All the children and their parents are at the concert, but David will not be there because he is not well today. Who will play the drums? Ken and Anil are worried. But Mocky can play the drums. Believe it or not, he can play really well.

Cao Chong weighs the elephant

    When we want to know how much we weigh, we stand on a scale. But when something is very big, like an elephant, how do we weigh it? A long time ago, the famous warlord, Cao Cao, faced this question.

    One day, Cao Cao received an elephant as a gift. "What a big animal! How much does it weigh?" Cao Cao asked. No one could answer his question because no scale was big enough.

    Cao Cao's six-year-old son Cao Chong said, "Father, let me try!"

    Cao Chong asked a man to get the elephant onto a boat on a river. The boat went down a little, and Cao Chong marked the water level on the boat.  He then asked some strong men to put rocks on the boat.  When the water reached the mark, Cao Chong said, "Stop!"

    "Let's weigh these rocks, and add their weights together. Then we'll know the weight of the elephant," said Cao Chong.

    Finally, they found out the weight of the elephant. Cao Cao was very happy.

    Elephants are mammals. They can be four metres tall. They don't eat meat. They only eat fruit, leaves and grass. They need a lot of food, so they spend most of their time eating. They only sleep for about four hours every night.

    The elephant has two long, white teeth called tusks. It is the only animal with a trunk-a special long nose. The elephant can use its trunk to pick up big tree or a small peanut. The elephant is also the mammal with the biggest ears. They look like two big fans.

    Elephants live in Africa and Asia. They live together in family groups. They are very strong, very smart and of course, very, very big.
