Sally's school

In the past

    Sally's school was small ten years ago. There were only ten classrooms and twelve teachers. The playground was small and there weren't any trees around it. The library was small too. There weren't many books or magazines in it. There wasn't a garden.

In the future

    There will be a big garden. Students will grow plants in it. Students will have more PE lessons. They will do more exercise. Students will carry small computers to school. They will study online.

Now

    Sally's school is big. The playground is big. Students can run and play there. The library is big and new. Students can read all kinds of books in it. There is a garden. But it is very small.

Lisa: Excuse me. Where are the books about China?

Librarian: They are on Shelf B.

Lisa: I think this book is nice.

Librarian: There is also a CD about China.

Lisa: Great! Let me borrow them.

Librarian: Can I have your library card, please?

Lisa: Of course. Here you are.

Librarian: Please bring back the book in two weeks' time. And bring back the CD in three weeks' time.

Lisa: Yes, I will.

    Good morning, boys and girls. Shanghai is a big city. Nanjing Road is in the centre of Shanghai. It is very busy. Every day many people go to Nanjing Road. They like visiting the shops. They can buy clothes, clocks and watches, food and many other things there. They can also eat in the restaurants or stay in the hotels there.

    Many people visit Nanjing Road in the evening. The lights are bright and beautiful then.

    Shanghai is very nice. I live in Shanghai. I like Shanghai very much.

    Look! This is my classroom. It's on the first floor. It's very big. There are forty-five students in our class. This is the teachers' office. It's on the second floor. There is an art room. It's on the second floor too. There is a library. It's on the third floor. There is a computer room. It's on the first floor.

    It's fine today. Mr Green and his family are in the park. Mr and Mrs Green are standing under the trees and looking at their children. Ann is flying a kite. The boy in a white shirt and blue trousers is her brother. He's reading a book. Ann's younger brother is too young. He can't walk and run. He's drinking milk. Ann's sister isn't in the park. She is at school.

    It is rainy. Joe and Jean are at home. They are playing games. Dad is writing a letter. Mum is working.

    "Oh, no. The noise is big. Your father and I can't work," Mrs. Brown says. "Please be quiet. Please go to your room."

    Now Joe and Jean are in their room. Joe is playing the violin. Jean is playing the flute.

    The noise is even bigger. So Mrs. Brown says, "Go and play games instead."
