It was Monday. Mrs. Smith's dog was hungry, but there was not any meat in the house. So Mrs. Smith took a piece of paper, and wrote the following words on it: “Give my dog half a pound of meat.” Then she gave the paper to her dog, “T{#blank#}1{#/blank#} this to the butcher(屠夫) and he's going to give you your lunch today.”

    Holding the piece of paper in its m{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, the dog ran to the butcher's. It gave the paper to the butcher. The butcher read it  c{#blank#}3{#/blank#} and knew that it was really the lady's handwriting, so he gave the dog some meat. The dog was very happy, and a{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the meat up at once.

    The next day, the dog came to the shop again. It gave the butcher a piece of paper again. A{#blank#}5{#/blank#}reading it, he gave it half a pound of meat once more.

    On the t{#blank#}6{#/blank#} day, the dog came with a piece of paper again. This time, the butcher d{#blank#}7{#/blank#} take a look at paper, and gave the dog its meat.     

But the dog came again at four o'clock. And the same thing happened once again. To the butcher's more s{#blank#}8{#/blank#}, it came for the third time at six o'clock with a third piece of paper.

He said to himself, “This is a small dog. W{#blank#}9{#/blank#} does Mrs. Smith give it so much meat to eat today?”

    Students go hungry for charity （慈善）Students at New Point School enjoyed their breakfast today，for it broke a 24﹣hour fast （禁食）for charity．During the fast，they could not eat any food{#blank#}1{#/blank#}，and they could only drink water，tea and clear fruit juice．The students all volunteered to go without food for one day to raise money for UN projects to help the poor {#blank#}2{#/blank#}．

    Mr．James Wood，their English teacher，said，"The students {#blank#}3{#/blank#}the idea themselves after seeing photos of hungry children．They organized the whole thing．I'm very proud of them．"

"Twenty﹣four hours did not feel like a very long time．Next year，I might even double {#blank#}4{#/blank#}I spend fasting．Then I can raise twice as much money!"said Jane Austin，a student．"It's so wrong for us to have lots of food while many people in the world are going hungry．We need to give to those in need．"

    The students collected about $ 2，400 from the fast．They were {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the total amount．"It's amazing!People are so kind，and they want to help others，"said Alan Long，another student．

    Today, an increasing number of people are always looking at their mobile phones with their heads down. These people are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} the "Head-down Tribe". Head-down tribe members now can be seen everywhere.

    There are more and more traffic {#blank#}2{#/blank#} because there are more drivers using mobile phones while driving. In {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to make drivers pay more attention to driving, the government makes some new traffic rules. As we know, using mobile phone while driving or walking may cause traffic accidents. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, more and more interesting and strange things also happen to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} "Heads-down Tribe". A man in America kept using his mobile phone on {#blank#}6{#/blank#} way home. As a result, he knocked into a big bear. When he saw the big bear, he was so afraid that he couldn't help crying out. And then he turned around and ran away as {#blank#}7{#/blank#} as possible. Besides, people often look at their mobile phone {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they are eating face to face in the restaurant. It's strange that they don't talk to the people {#blank#}9{#/blank#} sit opposite to them during the meal. Some of them even have fun communicating with others on the phone.

    Mobile phones are helpful and necessary {#blank#}10{#/blank#} in modern life. Whether they are good or not depends on how people use them. Let's be "healthy" users and try not to be the "Heads-down Tribe".
