Last year, my family and I made a journey to Hainan. It was really a nice place which gave us a rather good experience.

 {#blank#}1{#/blank#} January 7th, we took the plane in Pudong Airport. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it was my second time to travel by plane, I felt even more excited than the first time. Soon we arrived. There was a big {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(different)between the climate here and that in my hometown. It was warm here and we could see coconut trees everywhere.

On the first day, I went to Bo' ao (博鳌) to enjoy the sea and the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(wonder) beach in the sunshine. The sand on the beach was so soft that it was comfortable {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(lie) on the beach. In the afternoon, I did {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(activity) on the beach with my new friends from all over China. The next day, I went to Haikou. I spent several hours {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(visit) the tomb of Hairui. He was {#blank#}8{#/blank#} officer in the Ming Dynasty, who was famous for rectitude(正直). I think he should be the role model of every person. In the afternoon, I went to a park. A lot of stones of different {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(shape)came into sight. When arriving on the top of the park, it {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(seem)that the whole city was under my view.

I will never forget this trip because it gave me a lot of knowledge as well as good memories.

"Jobie Nymble from Class 3 Grade 9 wins the first prize in the girls' 100-meter hurdles!" crowd cheered.

"Next is the city match. Here we come!" Jobie said to her green training shoes. They looked of dirty but she didn't care. They were her lucky shoes and she treasured them. She expected to take the gold next Saturday with the shoes on. Jobie trained with excitement all week long. At track practice, she jumped over those hurdles faster than she'd ever done before.

The day before the match was her teammate Marisol's birthday at Hidden Park. Jobie put on favorite clothes and her lucky training shoes. The birthday party was crowded and there she saw the BIGGES Tslide (滑梯) she had ever seen. Without thinking twice, Jobie took off her shoes and ran toward the slide. She tried the slide again and again. When it was finally time to go home, she went back to the place where she'd left her shoes. As she eyed the area from a distance, a sense of dread set in. The closer she got, the faster her heart beat. When she reached the place, her heart stopped. Her lucky shoes disappeared. Jobie's teammates helped her search the park. No lucky shoes. "Goodbye, gold," Jobie cried.

The next day, the best teams got together at Hidden Park. Soon it was time for girls' 100-meter hurdles. Jobie's teammates cheered her up as she slowly walked to the starting line, her feet getting wet in her new shoes.

Runners were ready now. Jobie had just raised her eyes and something familiar on the bleacher (看台) caught her eyes. Her shoes! Someone must have found them and put them there.

In a flash, Jobie was off. She set fully focus on her lucky shoes as she cleared hurdle after hurdle. Closer and closer she got. Just one more hurdle and— "Number 52, Jobie Nymble, takes the gold for Riverside School," said the speaker.

Jobie picked up her lucky shoes and rushed to her teammates. Marisol cried out, "Jobie, you broke a record for the hurdles!" Then she added, "Lucky you."

"Lucky me?" Jobie questioned at first. Then, after a minute, she looked down at her feet and smiled. No lucky shoes. Smiling with joy, Jobie said to herself, "Lucky Me."

Trisha loves playing with dolls(玩偶). She has {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of clothes for them. And every day she tries to think of new ways to play with them. 

One day she thought of getting a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for her dolls. However, doll houses are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} to buy. She didn't have enough money. And she didn't want to ask her parents for the money. So she decided to make one by {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

She found some cardboard(硬纸板) and a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} of scissors, and set to work. She spent an hour cutting the cardboard into small pieces and using them to build a house with six rooms. It was large enough, but Trisha wasn't satisfied(满意的) with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it looked like— its color was ugly(难看的). 

Trisha then used old wallpaper of beautiful colors to do some improvement. As soon as she{#blank#}7{#/blank#} that, her parents came back. They couldn't wait to help her. Mom made some beds and Dad made some wooden furniture. Then the house looked a lot {#blank#}8{#/blank#} beautiful. 

Trisha looked at the house {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a smile. She was tired. It was a long process, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it was really fun. She finally found something new for her dolls, and she felt it great to make something herself. 

Many people like to collect things. Some people collect stamps, some collect dolls and some collect rocks. 1 , Christa Behmenburg, from Germany, collects something unusual—mouse-related items.

Christa's husband is a geologist (地质学家). He likes collecting postcards about mineral (矿物质) resources. Christa always goes with him to fairs 2 new cards for his collection. Actually, Christa is not fond of mineral resources, 3 she feels bored with these fairs. One day, she asked her husband 4 she could also build up a collection of something she likes. He agreed and advised Christa to collect something about 5 favorite animal. Unluckily, that piece of advice would become the biggest regret he's never had.

Christa's favorite animal is the mouse. Since she 6 a teenager, she has had mice as pets. The animal 7 lovely and clever. Two or three years after 8 the hobby, she went all in. She had hundreds and then thousands of mouse-related items only 9 weeks later.

At first, she and her husband had 10 small flat. However, space was getting much 11 because of Christa's collection. The two had to rent (租) 12 two houses. To everyone's surprise, the number of Christa's mouse-related items was up to 47,398 in early 2022 and she broke the Guinness World Record for the largest collection of mouse-related items 13 the end of this year.

Christa's collection continues to grow. Now, every room in her house, from the kitchen to the bathroom, 14 mouse-related items. Sometimes, Christa's husband complains about the large collection 15 brings them joy and trouble. Christa, however, will remind him that it was all his idea!

When Mary was a student, she wanted to be a 1 because she liked children. 2 she was twenty, she began teaching in a small school. She is a good teacher now, and she3 a lot with the children in her class, and the children enjoy her4 . 

One day, 5 of the girls in her class asks her, "Miss Smith, why does a man's hair become grey(灰色)6 his beard(胡子)does?"

Mary laughs and answers, "I don't know. Helen, do you know?"

"I don't know7 , Miss Smith, " says Helen, "but it happens to my father. " The8 children in the class laugh when they hear this. 

Then a boy says, "I 9 Miss Smith! A man's hair becomes grey first because it's sixteen years10 than his beard. "

The class laugh loudly.
