People often said Thomas Edison was the greatest genius(天才) of his age. There are only a few men in all of history, who have changed the lives of other men as much as the inventor of the first useful electric light. But Edison could never be pleased only because someone said he was a genius. “There is no such a thing as genius,” Edison said. He thought what people called genius was mostly hard work.

     But Edison was a thinker as well as a worker. From his earliest days as a child he wondered about the secrets of nature. He tried to understand them, and then he tried to learn what he could usefully do with them.

     Edison enjoyed thinking. He knew that most people would do almost anything instead of the difficult work of thinking, especially if they do not think very often. But he knew, too, that thinking could give men enjoyment and pleasure.

     Edison could not understand why anyone could not be interested in life. As he loved to think, he also loved to work. On the day he became 75 years old, someone asked him what idea he had about life. “Work,” he answered, “Discovering the secrets of nature and using them to make men happier.” He said he had enough inventions in his mind to give him another 100 years of work.

    Steve Jobs, who was as famous as Bill Gates in the world, was one of the fathers of the personal computing time and the founder of the computer company, “Apple”. He was also one of the greatest giants of the information age. The following are some of his greatest achievements.

    My friend John has got a restaurant in a big city. It is near a supermarket. He gets ten robots for the restaurant. Each robot costs (价钱为) 20, 000 yuan. The restaurant is not big, but very popular. Now more and more people come here for dinner.

    The robots have different jobs in the restaurant. Two robots cook different kinds of food; one washes the dishes; one cleans the floor and the others give food to the guests (客人).

    Although robots do most of the jobs in the restaurant, John is still very busy. He must do many things to keep the robots working well. Luckily, John is good at studying robots and he knows robots very well. I think in the future, there will be a lot of robot­themed restaurants (机器人主题餐厅) around the world.

    There are two twin boys. They are very different. One of them is happy and outgoing. He always looks on the bright side of things. His brother, however, is sad and unhappy. He has a negative outlook on life. The parents want to cheer up the sad child. They came up with a plan and put the two boys into different rooms.

    The sad boy was put in a clean room with all kinds of wonderful, interesting toys, while the happy boy was put in a dirty room with a lot of horse manure（马粪）.

    After an hour, the parents opened the door into the clean room. To their surprise, the sad boy was sitting, crying. He even didn't move or play with any toys.

    "Why are you crying?" asked the parents.

    "I don't have anyone to play with." he said.

    The parents then opened the second door. They were amazed. Their son was running excitedly around the room, and throwing handfuls（一把）of horse manure into the air. "What are you doing?" they asked.

    "Well, "said the excited little boy." With all this horse manure lying around, I guess there may be a baby horse hiding in this room and I'm going to find him!"

    If we have a positive（积极的）attitude, difficulties are easy to overcome.
