Lao She was one of the greatest Chinese writers of the 20th century. He was not only a great writer, 1a famous modern novelist(小说家)and dramatist(剧作家).

    Lao She was born in a poor family in Beijing and his real name was Shu Qingchun. His family was poor2his father died. His mother had a very3time. Lao She worked his way through college. After finishing school he started to work as a4in primary and middle schools. He liked5since he was a child. He didn't write his first novel until 1933.He was famous6his novel Camel Xiangzi and the play Teahouse. Teahouse shows the7of the Chinese people in 1898 and 1945.Most people like to see it.

    Like8famous intellectuals(知识分子)in China, he experienced lots of bad things in the middle of 1960s.9, he killed himself in a lake in 1966.

    He was married to Hu Jieqing and they10four children, one son and three daughters.

When Bruce first met Beethoven's Moonlight over 50 years ago, he lost himself in it at once and dreamed of becoming a pianist. Although a piano was absent at home then, he learned to play Beethoven (贝多芬) by ear. Unbelievably, Bruce entered the Royal Academy of Arts at 16, which marked the beginning of his successful pianist journey. But that's not all. . . 

Bruce's wife works at Elephants World, a reserve (自然保护区) devoted to the care of rescued (救援) elephants. These elephants have worked for humans all their life and many are blind or disabled from being treated badly. After learning about that, Bruce wanted to make the effort to carry something heavy himself. Finally, Bruce and his wife were allowed by the manager to bring a piano into the reserve, bringing music to the elephants' lives. It was truly magical. 

At the beginning, when Bruce started playing, it was hard to hear the piano above the sounds of nature and the elephants chewing (咀嚼) grass. However, everything changed when a blind elephant stopped eating and focused on his playing. It hit Bruce that this elephant had a love for music. From that moment on, Bruce was no longer worried about influencing their pеace. 

Now Bruce continues to play for these elephants in the reserve. Surprisingly, it's the sad male elephants who show the most fascination with the music. He believes it has a calming effect. These elephants' breathing actually slows down when he plays, which tells Bruce they are relaxed and happy. He has even seen elephants seemingly dancing to Beethoven's pieces. With their excellent hearing and the ability to sense vibrations (震动) through their feet, Bruce is confident that elephants can understand the language of human expression. 

Bruce jokes that he is now an "Elepianist" and his human audience (听众) must miss him too much! 

My mother retired (退休) at the age of 55. She was bored every day and got 1 easily. Our family relations became terrible. My brother thought of a good idea to solve the problem. He bought her a new smartphone and taught her to use WeChat.

She was 2 by WeChat soon. After taking photos, she liked sharing them in her friend circle.

But she sometimes 3 . This afternoon, my mother prepared to make dumplings for dinner. She took many photos as usual. But after dinner, we didn't see any photos. Finally, my father asked her, "Why don't you share your delicious dumplings in your friend circle today?" My mother looked 4 and said, "My smartphone was boiled in the pot." "Oh, my God! I have to buy a new one again!" 5 cried.

When I was walking back home at around 12：15 pm during my lunch break one day，an apple came flying toward me. It landed just before my feet. I was surprised and thought I was very lucky not to get hit by it. 

The apple was thrown over the fence by a school student. I live opposite a school. A wall separates my apartment building from the school. 

Thinking it was a one﹣off experience，I told my friends，and we laughed about it. 

Then，the week after，I was walking along exactly the same spot at exactly the same time and bam!Another apple came over. This time it landed on the roof of a shed（棚屋）

"Is it my destiny（命运） to get hit by an apple？"

Last week I was walking back home. I checked my phone. It was 12：15 pm. I kept thinking about those two times before when I'd seen an apple thrown over the wall. But suddenly，my thoughts were interrupted by ANOTHER flying apple!This one was a big one. Only one bite（一口） had been taken out of it

Enough was enough. Someone could be really hurt by these apples. Did the student（s）not realize that people live across the wall？Or do they not care？

I told my friend about it. "You should just throw the apple back over the wall. That will teach them，"my friend suggested. But I don't want to play that "game". As they say，an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Besides，I might end up hurting someone when I throw it back. 

Maybe I'll call the school and let them know. The student（s）responsible need to know that they might end up hurting someone if they keep throwing their waste. What's more，waste belongs in the bin

When my children were young, I used to read to them every evening before bed. One of their favorite stories was called Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch. Mr. Hatch lived a 1 life. He walked alone to work every day and ate his lunch alone in a corner. He never 2 . He never talked to anyone on his way home. In the evening, he never visited friends and he would read a newspaper and go to bed3 .

His life changed, however, on Valentine's Day when he got a heart- shaped box full of 4 in the mail, along with a note that said, " Somebody loves you. Hope you like the chocolate. " At  first, he couldn't believe it, but when he let the message understood, he began to laugh and dance  around. That message opened his heart to the power of love. Soon he found himself being cheerful. He became a joy at work and began to 5  people in the neighborhood. As the days and weeks went by, his laughter, smiles, kindness, happiness and love6 everyone in his community. 

 Later, Mr. Hatch found out that the heart- shaped box had been delivered to him by7 . He felt8 and went back to his old ways. When his neighbors found out, however, they decided not to lose the light he shared. They 9 him with a party and a huge banner(条幅) that read: " Everybody Loves Mr. Hatch. " Mr. Hatch cried when he realized that somebody loved him after all. Then he laughed, smiled and hugged with his friends.
