Tanni was born with an illness,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} made her unable to move her muscles normally. Tanni was interested{#blank#}2{#/blank#} sports, but when she was growing up she didn't see many disabled athletes on television. Then several years later, while watching the London wheelchair marathon, she saw an athlete she knew. She dreamed that she would be on the starting line, competing in the marathon too. Finally, her dream{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (come) true. She was not only on the starting line, but also the winner at the finish line. Tanni believes you'll never know{#blank#}4{#/blank#} you can do unless you try.

A friend who was depressed wrote me a letter a few weeks ago.He said his life was full of 1 and that his heart was full of worries.He was 2 about his life.He ended his 3 with this question:"We can't really change our life,can we?"As a famous musician,I 4 immediately and started my letter with these words:"Yes,we certainly can!"

In the blog Jo wrote about her experiences of  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) a teacher in a bush school in Papua New Guinea. We can imagine  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} difficult it was for her to work there, since there was no{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (electrical) or water, and no {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (equip) for science subjects. And students had to walk a long way to the school. 

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} was difficult for her to get to know the local people as she didn't know much Pidgin English, but there was one chance {#blank#}6{#/blank#} she managed to visit the home of one of her students. After as long as two and a half hours' hard journey, she and another teacher Jenny arrived at Tombe's house, a low bamboo hut with grass {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (stick) out of the roof. They entered the room {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the narrow doorway, and the hut was dark inside so it took time for their eyes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (adjust)．Jo really felt it was {#blank#}10{#/blank#} great privilege to have spent a day with Tombe's family. 

Whenever our teachers or parents asked about our hobbies at childhood, my friends and I would always express our love for reading. However, with the development of high technology, our lives are gradually 1 by electronic screens of all sizes. They attract our attention like magnets（磁铁）and gradually 2 us from the world of books.

There was a time when I felt like my life went downhill, and with increased 3 from school, physical tiredness and emotional burdens（负担）, I had to watch short 4 to distract（分散）myself from those troubles.

When I was a young boy I was in a poor neighborhood as a foster ( 领养) child. I was1 to spend lots of time alone. I would often wander the neighborhoods on my own and2 to help rake (用耙子耙平) a yard, mow a lawn ( 割草), or wash some walls3 some pocket money just to buy some clothes or candy.

Once I knocked on the door of an elderly woman and asked if she needed her leaves raked in the yard. She asked why I was not in school and I4 her my torn trousers and shoes, which were5 and no longer keeping my feet warm and6 . And when I finished the work she gave me some7 . She said, "I want you to buy some trousers and new shoes and8 school. I also want you to come back and9 me with your report card and I will reward you when I see you have worked hard and have some good10 ."

I returned several times to see the woman in the corner house and she did just as she11 . She looked at my report card and gave me a handful of dollars and a sandwich every time I12 showed her I had an "A" or "B". And over the next couple of years, she continued to be this13 influence in my life as brief as it was and I never knew her name.

I was twelve years old when I moved from that neighborhood into a different home, with another family. I will of course never14 the huge difference this wonderful stranger made over my life with her15 . This is something I hope to do myself in this lifetime over and over again.

The reopening of an Asian American-owned bookstore in Manhattan's Chinatown following a January fire has received a warm welcome back from its supporters.

Yu &. Me Books, which is regarded as the first female-owned Asian American bookshop in New York City, has raised more than $369,000 for repairs since a tragic fire on January 4. It reopened on Wednesday. "We are so excited to welcome you all back to our Yu &. Me Books home," the store announced on Instagram. "We can't wait to shed tears, laugh loudly and open our hearts with all of you who have made us feel at home."

The fire in an apartment above the bookstore on Mulberry Street killed one of the building's residents. Smoke and water damage also devastated Yu & Me Books, destroying almost all its inventory and equipment, according to a GoFundMe campaign that store owner Lucy Yu set up to make up for the costs.

During the restoration and renovation (翻新) of the original bookstore, the business operated from a location within The Market Line, an underground marketplace on the Lower East Side, and several pop-up shops (临时店铺) in the city.

"It was a bookstore I always wanted to visit, and I'm so happy that they were able to reopen," Charlotte Leinbach, a teacher for New York City's Education Department said. Leinbach hadn't been to the bookstore before the fire, but she had heard quite a bit about its fate. She bought two books, the second and third in the series Before the Coffee Gets Cold.

"It's hard to find a lot of books written in Japanese, and then translated into English," she said. "The design of the bookstore is really nice, and the layout is great. I am glad that they also sell used books. I love buying new books because it's fresh and it's nice, but it's always nice to see people in the community giving their books back and reselling and just passing them on." She said she will continue to support the women-run small businesses that focus on people and authors of color.

"I actually came on the day of the opening, but there were too many people, and it was too crowded, so I just haven't had a chance to look at it," Liam Li, another Asian American, said. "This place is unique. It's in Chinatown. As Asians live in New York City, I feel this offers the most space for the community. I understand like a minority in this society, it is not easy to have a store like this," she added.
