On the first day of the school, our teacher made us know somebody. Looking out, we found an old woman1at the door. She came in and said, “Hi, my name is Susan. I am seventy years old”. All of us were2that she took this3 at her age. She said with a smile. “I'm here to meet a rich husband, get 4, have two children and travel together. ” Hearing this, all of us laughed. “ In fact, ” she went on, “I have always5of having a college education, and now it comes6! ”

    After class we had chocolate and milk together. We became good7. I often listened to this “time machine” as she shared her8with me. At the end of the term we invited Susan to give a9in the class. When she was in the front of the classroom, suddenly she found she took the wrong paper. She felt a little10and said, “I am sorry. I am so nervous. I can't get my ready talk11, so I have to tell you12I know. “

    In her speech she told us “We don't stop playing as we are old, we grow old13we stop playing. The secret of staying 14and being happy is that we should laugh and find something 15 to do every day. I think there is a great16between growing old and growing up. I am seventy now. If I17in bed for one year and never do anything, I'll become seventy-one. Since(既然) anybody can grow older, my18 is to grow up by always finding the chance to change. Growing older can't be avoided, growing up can be19. It's never too late to be all you can possibly be. ”

    During the four years' study, it was so easy for Susan to make friends20she went. In the end, the wonderful woman finished all her courses and got the college degree (学位).

    Sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding drivers, a police officer saw a car driving along at 22 miles per hour.

    He thought to himself, "This driver is just as dangerous as a 1!" So he turned on his lights and pulled the driver over.

    Getting closer to the car, he noticed that there were 2 old ladies, two in the front seat and three in the back wide eyed and pale faced.

    The driver, who knew 3 about what happened, said to him, "Officer, I don't understand. I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the 4?"

    "Ma'am," the officer replied, "you weren't speeding, but you should know that driving 5 than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers. The same as a speeder."

    "No, sir. I was doing the speed limit—exactly twenty-two miles an hour!'' The old woman said in a 6 voice. The officer, almost unable to control his chuckle, explained to her that "22" was the route 7, not the speed limit.

    A bit embarrassed, the woman smiled widely and thanked the officer for 8 her misunderstanding.

    "But 9 I let you go, ma'am, I have to ask... Is everyone in this car OK? These women seem to be 10 badly and they haven't made a single sound this whole time," the officer asked.

    "Oh, they'll be all right in a minute. We just got off Route 119."

    It was Molly's job to hand her father his paper lunch bag each morning before he left home to work.

    One morning, besides his 1 lunch bag. Molly handed him a second paper bag, which looked a bit old.

    "Why two bags?" her father asked. "The other is something else," Molly answered. "What's in it?" "Just something. Take it with you."

    He put2 paper bags into his briefcase (公文包), kissed Molly and rushed off. At noon he opened Molly's bag and took out all the things: a small Teddy bear, 2 tiny sea shells (贝壳), 5 small stones, and 12 coins…The 3 father smiled, finished eating, and swept the desk clean into the wastebasket, Molly's things in the bag included, and then put himself into the afternoon work.

    That evening, Molly ran up to him 4 he was reading the newspaper.

    "Where's my bag?" "What's bag?" "The one I gave you this morning."

"I 5 it at the office. Why?" "I forgot to put this 6 in it," she said. "And, besides, Daddy, the things in the bag are the things I really like—I thought you might like to 7 with them. You didn't lose the bag, did you, Daddy?"

    "Oh, no. I just forgot to bring it home." he 8.

    While Molly hugged (拥抱) her father's neck, he opened the note that read: "I love you, Daddy." Molly had given him her 9 —all that a 7-year-old held.

    Love in a paper bag, and he 10 it. He had even thrown it in the wastebasket. So back he went hurriedly to the 11. Just before the night cleaner, he found all the things back and carried the bag home 12 .

    After dinner, he asked Molly to tell him about the things in the bag. It 13 a long time to tell. 14 had a story or a memory.

    The life journey with the people we love is all that really matters. It is such a simple 15  but it is so easily forgotten.

    Twenty-five-year-old South African DJ Mandla Maseko has been chosen as one of 23 people who will get to go to space! Maseko, a 1 African, can't wait to become the first black South African to go to 2!

    He and 22 others were some of over one million who 3 the Lynx Apollo Space Academy competition to win a ticket to space. When he was 4 why he wanted to go to space, Maseko's answer was 5, "want to fight against the rules of gravity(引力)."

    He will start to do so on a Lynx mark II space ship in 2015, not only fighting against gravity but also realising his childhood 6 of becoming an astronaut when he grew up.

    "We blacks also 7 with dreams. You dreamed of being a policeman or a teacher but you know you won't get as far as a pilot or an astronaut. Then I went to the space camp and I told 8 that I could be an astronaut," said Maseko.

    During the first week of December, Maseko, two other South Africans, 9 more than 100 international contestants(选手) went to the space camp in Orlando, Florida to test if they are 10 enough to go to space.

    Maseko knows there is a long way to go before he finally goes into space. "I'll be the first black South African and the first black African to go into space. When I think of the firsts, the first black presidents—Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, I tell myself to try my best."

    Mr. Brown was very fat and he didn't feel well. Mrs. Brown was1about his weight (体重).

    "You must see a doctor," she said, "and ask him how to2weight. It's not good3your health." "OK." Mr. Brown said, and then he went to see the doctor.

    The doctor looked him over, then he said, "Nothing serious, you are too heavy. You must lose430 kilos. Eat only fruit and vegetables and run five kilometers a day for the next5days, then call and tell me how6you are."

    Mr. Brown went home and did7the doctor told him. One hundred days8, he called the doctor.

    "Mr. Brown here, doctor," he said. "I'm calling to tell you about my weight. You will be9to know that I lost 30 kilos."

    "Great!" The doctor said. "Yes, but there's another10," Mr. Brown said. "I'm 500 kilometers from home!"
