In China, Spring Festival is a very big event. We usually celebrate 1 with the sound of fireworks and crackers. But do you know 2 people from many more countries around the world also celebrate Chinese New Year?

 This winter holiday, I 3 to Bangkok, Thailand. 4 I first arrived in the city center, I was amazed that many windows had posters saying" Happy Chinese New Year". Many people were wearing red clothes and qipao. And there was 5 sign saying" Lucky Chinese New Year" in the biggest shopping area in Bangkok! So I 6 put on my qipao and walked down the street to enjoy the atmosphere. Many people from different countries smiled at me and said" hello" to me in Chinese.

 At night, there were beautiful fireworks 7 the river in the city center.

 The next day, it was surprising 8 a message from a pen friend in the UK. He told me that they knew Chinese culture and customs 9 and were taking part in the celebrations.

10 unforgettable Spring Festival for me! It is great to be a Chinese.

Travelling is not always happy, at least for the buddies in the movie Green Book. The popular film won Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 25. 

The movie was adapted from the true story of a road trip through the southern US in the early 1960s. In the film, the black pianist Don Shirley hires Italian- American Tony Vallelonga to drive him to performances, but they face problems because of Shirley's skin colour. These problems lead them to form a special friendship. 

"There's something so deeply right about this movie, so true to the time," wrote US film critic Mick LaSalle. The time LaSalle is talking about was between late 1870s and 1960s, a very different period in US history. Many parts of the country had Jim Crow Laws (《吉姆·克劳法》) , which allowed racial segregation (种族隔离) . These laws made life and travel ____ for African- Americans. They couldn't use certain hotels, restaurants, or even gas stations. They had to be indoors after sunset or they might be put into prison. Even black celebrities (名人) had to follow the laws. 

But in 1936, a black mail carrier named Victor H. Green had an idea. He made a list of friendly businesses in New York City. He published the list as a small book with a green cover. The Green Book helped African- Americans travel more safely. Then, in 1964, Jim Crow Lawswent away. The book went away, too. 

Today many US people still remember the time of Jim Crow. But they probably don't know about the Green Book. It's a forgotten part of the story. Thanks to this movie, maybe people can remember it again. 

It was sunny last Sunday. I called my classmates and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} a bicycle to a farm near a bill A farmer welcomed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in front of his house. The farm was so beautiful. We saw hens, ducks and pigs there. We {#blank#}3{#/blank#} like birds out of the cage(笼子), running around happily. We did many wonderful activities around the farmhouse. Sally tried {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Some apples from a tree. I got to the top of the hill and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} quite a few photos. Tony seemed to {#blank#}6{#/blank#} no interest in these activities. He sat {#blank#}7{#/blank#}a big tree and relaxed. At twelve o' clock, most of us were {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. The farmer prepared(准备) some delicious food for us. Of course, we must pay for it, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} we still thanked him. To remember what we did, I wrote down some {#blank#}10{#/blank#} between the life in the city and that on the farm in my diary.

All in all, it was a wonderful day!

Amy's favourite writer released (发布) a new book last week. Amy was very excited because she had enough money to 1 it this weekend. She talked about the book with her online chat group (聊天群). A lot of the other children wanted to buy the book too.

Stephanie, one child from the group, sent Amy a(n) 2 . It said that Stephanie wanted to meet Amy at the bookstore to buy the new book together. Amy 3 her mum about it. Her mum asked, "Do you know Stephanie from school?"

"No," Amy answered. "We only talked online."

"Listen," Amy's mum said, "I want you to have 4 , but sometimes, people online aren't who they say they are. So I don't think it's a 5 idea for you to meet this person (人)."

"But, Mum," Amy said, " 6 Stephanie just wants to buy a book with me."

Amy's mum said, "Let's do this. Dad and I will go with you. If Stephanie is just a child and wants to make friends with you, that's great. 7 she is not, you'll be safe."

Amy didn't like that idea. It made her feel like a baby. But she knew her mum was 8 , so she said yes. Then she told Stephanie that she would go to the bookstore with her parents at 9:30 am.

The next day, Amy got to the bookstore on time. But she didn't 9 Stephanie. Amy then knew that her mum was right. She felt 10 that her parents were there to look after her and keep (保持) her safe.

Martin shook his money box again. Nothing! He carefully counted the 1 that lay on the bed. 32 dollars was all that he had. The 2 he wanted was at least 100 dollars! 3 on earth was he going to get the rest of the money?

He knew that his friends all had bicycles. It was 4 to hang around with people when you were the only one without wheels. He 5 what he could do. There was no 6 asking his parents, for he knew they had no money to spare.

There was only one way to get money. He would have to find a job. 7 who would give him the chance and what could he do? He decided to ask Mr. Allen for advice because 8 usually had experience on most things.

That was the 9 of Martin's odd-job (零工) business. For 3 months he worked every day after finishing his homework. He took dogs and babies for walks, cleared out cupboards, and mended books. He couldn't 10 how many cars be washed and how many windows he cleaned, but the money increased and he knew that he would soon have enough 11 the bicycle.

The day 12 came when Martin counted his money and found $104.32. He 13 no time and went down to the shop to pick up the bicycle he wanted. He rode 14 home. He looked 15 to showing his new bicycle to his friends. It had been difficult working for the money, but Martin knew it was a valuable experience. He had done what he thought was impossible, and that was worth (值得) even more than the bicycle.
