Have you ever had lucid (清醒的) dreams? Recent studies suggest that the number of people having them is on the rise. Someone having a lucid dream realizes they are dreaming and may from then on" direct" the action, or they may simply " watch" the dream unfold. The sense of awareness (知道) makes it different from a dream that is simply very lively and true to life. And although the description may seem strange, the process is far from alien to many of us.

Studies suggest that the number of people in the Western world experiencing lucid dreams, which happen once in a while, has risen by between 10 and 40 per cent since the 1980s. Today, they are so common that about one in eight of us will have one in our lives. But still, little is known about what causes them or what is behind the rise.

Research carried out at the respected Harvard University in the US shows that the brain is working hard during lucid dreams. In fact, the level of the mental (精神

的) activity in some parts of the brain is similar to that of a person who is awake. Lucid dreamers seem to share certain personal characters. For example, in general they are quite creative. They are also good at digging deep into problems and going out of their way to solve them. Furthermore, they always believe in personal responsibility rather than letting society carry the can.

Our nightmares (噩梦) may show our waking worries, with the five most common ones-- falling, being run after, feeling disabled, being late and the death of a loved one. Men are more likely to have nightmares about fights or being fired while hair and tooth loss appear more in women's nightmares-perhaps showing worries about losing their looks. Research has also found that women have more nightmares than men. Their dreams are also scarier and more unforgettable.

It's a Sunday morning. Isabella and her best friend William are playing in a park. They are looking for yellow eggs. Their parents tell them the yellow eggs are very difficult to find! They walk here and there, and William finds five white eggs. Isabella finds two blue eggs and four red eggs. But they don't see any yellow ones. Then William walks to some bushes (灌木) to try to find one.

"Hey, look what I find!" William says. He looks happy.

"Do you find a yellow egg?" Isabella asks. She walks over to join William.

"No," says William. "I find something better(更好的)!"

Isabella sees a birds nest (鸟巢) there. They are real eggs! There are three brown eggs in the nest.

Then they look at the eggs, they find the mother bird flies back. Then the two friends leave the bushes happily. They run to tell their parents about the nest.

What a good find! 

Jeff has a pet. It's a dog. It is white. Jeff likes it very much. He thinks the dog is very smart. It can play ball games and it can buy newspapers for Jeff. Every morning, Jeff puts one yuaninto the dog's mouth and it goes to the shop to buy newspapers for Jeff. 

Jeff has a good friend Mark. Jeff tells Mark about his smart dog. Mark doesn't believe it. Today, Mark comes to see Jeff in the morning. Jeff is playing with his dog. Mark says, "I will give your dog money. I don't think it can buy newspapers." "Have a try." says Jeff. 

Then Mark puts money into the dog's mouth and the dog walks out. After ten minutes, the dog doesn't come back. After an hour, the dog still doesn't come back. 

"How much money do you give the dog?" asks Jeff. 

"Five yuan."

"Well, if it has five yuan, it will go to the movies." says Jeff.

There is some good news for the students at Yangguang Middle School. Our school  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(ask) students about their hobbies last week. And based on these results(基于这些结果), we have set up four interest groups. 

The first one is a collecting group. Most of the students like collecting things. For example, some students are interested in collecting {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fan). Some students enjoy collecting money from different countries, like US {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(dollar). In this group, students can collect different things they like, and they can hold some activities to show their collections. 

Sports group is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} second. Many students like doing sports. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it can help them stay fit. Students can play many ball games in this group. And they can also learn how{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(swim) and take part in some sports competitions. 

The cooking group is also interesting. Some students enjoy cooking, and they think cooking {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bring) them joy. Some students want to make some dishes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} presents for their family. In this group, students can learn to cook different kinds of dishes, including(包括) cookies, noodles and soups. 

The last one is the reading group. Some students like reading books. They think reading gives them many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(value) things and makes them improve a lot. Students can read any book{#blank#}10{#/blank#} their student cards in this group. 

These are four interest groups. We also plan to set up more groups in the future.
