New stamps for the year
The China Post Group made special stamps for the year. They made two styles. On the first one, a monkey hangs on a branch（树枝）, holding a big red peach. This means to give luck to people. On the other stamp, a mother monkey holds two monkey b abies in her arms. It shows the happy reunion（团聚） of families. The monkey stamps were for sale on Jan.5th.
Monkey show
In China, there is an ancient drama called Monkey Show. It tells the story of Monkey King. When actors perform, they will paint "monkey faces" with colors. Red is the main color. Interestingly, they don't draw eyebrows（眉毛）.
Influence on personality
In Chinese culture, the monkey is a symbol of wisdom. Those who were born in the Year of the Monkey are said to be smart and outgoing. They are also said to have strong leadership and social skills. They can solve all kinds of problems in life and be kind to others.

Did you know? The world's smallest monkey is the finger monkey. It is only 10cm tall. They live in the Amazon rainforest （亚马孙雨林） of South America. Amazingly, they can turn their heads 180 degrees.

Many cultures have different ideas about why people catch colds. For example in the United States, some people think that you can catch a cold if your feet get cold. So, mothers tell small children to wear warm boots in the winter. In other places, including parts of the Middle East, some people believe that strong winds cause colds. So, on trains and buses, people usually don't like to sit next to open windows. In parts of Europe, some people think that wearing wet clothes will give you a cold. Su wrote the book when she was 14 years old. She was influenced（影响） by the book Sophie's World (《苏菲的世界》) and the movie The Truman Show (《楚门的世界》). Sophie is a girl who is interested in philosophy（哲学）. Truman's life is run by television.
    These stories gave Su an idea for her own book. She decided to write it in English.
    "My English teacher asked us to write something," says Su. "I thought I'd write about my idea."Su spent a whole summer vacation writing the story."Sometimes I had to stop because I couldn't find the right words," says Su. "I used the dictionary all the time."
    After finishing the English novel, Su had another idea. She decided to translate it into Chinese. The job took her just a few days. "It was easy because Chinese is my native language (母语)," she says.
    Su says her story is "a mixture of philosophy (哲学) and detective (侦探) story and science fiction".
"My classmates and I have turned it into a DV play," says Su. "I wrote the play and I played April. We will show it in our school soon!"

Mother's Day is a holiday for mothers. It is celebrated in the United States, England, India and some other countries. In a short time, it becomes widely celebrated. Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday in May. On that day, many people send gifts of love to their mothers, those whose mothers are still living often wear a pink or red rose or carnation, while those whose mothers are dead wear a white one.
The idea of a Day for mothers was first given by Miss Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia. As a result of hard work, the celebration of the first American Mother's Day was held in Philadelphia on May 10th, 1908. Soon the holiday became popular all over the country and all over the world.
In China, people do the same or the day for mothers, and in some cities, people sometimes ask a song to be broadcasted for his or her mother only. This might cost a little money for some of them. But it is said “Love is invaluable.”On May 8, 1999, just the day before the Mother's Day, this year, just a Chinese mother was killed in criminal bombling. Her name is Shao Yunhuan, a heroic mother. All the Chinese will remember her forever.

To really understand what White Day is all about, you have to understand what Valentine's Day in Japan is like. Japanese Valentine's Day is all about men getting presents. Japanese women are usually too shy to show their love, though it might not be true today. Valentine's Day is a great chance to let women show their feelings. Men should return gifts to women on White Day.

On both days, chocolate is the gift of choice. More often, the colour of the chocolate is white because of the name of the day. You can also buy flowers, candy or cookies.
