I am Frank. In our western countries, there are four seasons or 365 days in a year. Usually, we sleep 8 hours every day. So we have 122 days for sleeping. Then our study or work time is only 243 days left. But there are 52 weekends in a year. Each weekend is two days. We lose another 104 days a year for work. It takes up about one hour to have breakfast and supper. This comes to 15 days over a year. Four free hours each evening takes up 61 days. But we can't work all the time, so we need holidays. We have to remember that we get 2 days' holiday at Easter, 3 at Christmas and 1at the New Year. There are also 4 Bank holidays. Take those 10 days away and we have 32 days for work. But then we have one and a half hours' lunch every day, and half an hour's coffee break. That comes to 30 days a year. This means that we have only a few days left for study or work every year. What about you in China?

Just a few days after his 18th birthday, Beijing 2022 gold medal winner Su Yiming received a surprise gift—a letter from Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China.

In the letter, Xi expressed his congratulations(祝贺) to Su and other sportsmen in ice and snow sports for their great achievements(成就) at the Beijing Winter Olympics, hoping what they had achieved would encourage young Chinese to aim(立目标) high.

When Su first stepped onto a snowboard at the age of four, a future as a world-class sportsman seemed to be" a dream too big" for him. Little did he know that he would not only compete for his country but also take home the gold medal. With the great excitement of winning an Olympic gold medal still fresh in his mind, Su wrote a letter to the president, telling him how lucky he felt to have made his dream come true.

Su still remembers what Xi wrote in the reply," The new era is the time for young people to realize their dreams."

"I have always kept those words in my mind," Su said.

"When I made up my mind to be a professional (职业的) snowboarder, I know there is a big difference between my performance and that of the top sportsmen in the world. But I have been working hard to realize my dream. Now my story shows the fact that hard work will pay off." Su said.

Su believes the sky is the limit." Find the thing you love, believe in yourself and do your best. Finally, your dream will come true."

Now Su has his strong wish to win all the competitions in his sporting field.

With more and more rain falling, it's time for snakes to be active. Living in the city, it never crosses your mind that we might meet them face to face.

Most people are afraid of snakes. They may think snakes are dangerous and ugly. There are more than 2,000 kinds of snakes. Most of them live in mountains or forests, and in cities sometimes we can find them in grass or other dark places. Snakes can't walk or run because they have no legs or feet, but these long and thin animals can move very fast on their stomachs. Snakes usually have green, yellow or black skins, which make it difficult for their enemies to find them. In winter they hibernate in holes. They look for a hole to stay inside, in the ground, or in a rock or a tree. They do not wake up again until spring comes. Snakes feed on mice, frogs, bird eggs and so on.

Snakes play an important part in nature. We can make useful medicine with them. Without their help, the rodents (啮齿动物) will be out of control. But many of them are in danger of disappearing. Houses and buildings take up the land where snakes live. Many snakes lose their lives in traffic, and people often kill snakes for their skins or meat.

Mr and Mrs Mallard are looking for a place to live.1 every time Mr Mallard finds what looks like a nice place, Mrs Mallard says it is not good. 

One day, they get to a new city. "2 at the lake in the Public Garden. And there is a(n)3 in the centre of the lake," Mrs Mallard shouts. "It's my place. We can 4 the night on the island." Mr Mallard agrees with her. 

Next morning, they are swimming in the lake to look for 5 when a boat with many people comes. Some people throw small pieces of  6 into the water, so the Mallards have a nice breakfast. "I 7 this place," Mrs Mallard says as she climbs out of the water and has a break on the grass. 8 , a boy riding a bike passes by and he nearly hits (撞到) Mrs Mallard. "So  9 ! The place won't be good for our baby ducks. We must 10 here," Mrs Mallard shouts. 

Finally, they find the Charles River. "That island in the river looks like a quiet place to hatch (孵化) ducks. It's far away from the 11 city," Mr Mallard says. They choose soft bushes (灌木丛) near the water to12 the nest (窝). Finally, Mrs Mallard produces 8 eggs and the baby ducks ha tch out. 

All day long, Mrs Mallard teaches her babies 13 to swim. She teaches  14 to walk in a line near the island. And she also tells her babies to come back  15 hearing her voice. Mrs Mallard is very busy, but she likes her life. 

Jack is my best friend who I made on the first school day. He is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} boy with a warm smile. Many people want to make friends with {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. And I know he is a big fan of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} culture. He always tells {#blank#}4{#/blank#} lots of famous Chinese stories. We often read books and do sports together. In my mind, I wish {#blank#}5{#/blank#} friendship can last forever. 

On a rainy evening, Lily was walking home from school. She forgot her umbrella (雨伞) and she had to hurry along the street. At that time she saw an old woman carry some heavy shopping bags. Lily decided to help.

"Can I help you with your bags?" Lily asked the old woman. The woman smiled and nodded her head. Together, they walked to the woman's house, talking along the way. The old woman told Lily about her life and how she lived alone. Lily felt good and happy when talking with her.

When they arrived at the old woman's house, the woman asked Lily to dry off (变干) and have some hot chocolate. Lily said yes and they spent some time talking. The old woman was very kind and told Lily how much she thanked her.

As Lily left the house, the rain stopped, and she felt warm inside. She learned that helping others not only brings them happiness but also makes her happy. From that day on, Lily made it a point to help others whenever she could.
