Last summer, as soon as school was over, I thought maybe I could spend the summer {#blank#}1{#/blank#}a way different from previous ones. But how? Besides, I had carried myself well through the interview. My facial {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (express), my voice, my...…all were excellent. I felt the job was already mine. That night I calculated how{#blank#}10{#/blank#} money I would make, and I planned the ways I would like to spend it.

    Xuan paper, known as one of the Four Treasures of Study, first came into {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (exist) in Xuan Prefecture in the Tang dynasty. The traditional skill of making the paper {#blank#}2{#/blank#} hand has been passed down through generations. The process takes as many as 100 steps, all of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} require a level of delicacy.

    Take papermaking master Zhou Donghong for example. He uses a fine screen to filter（过滤） a mixture of water and fibers. He lifts it up, and it's a sheet of paper. It takes him and his partner only 15 seconds {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (form) and shape it, but they've devoted {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (them) to perfecting the skills for decades.

    "There are a lot of tricks of filtering the fibers, and timing is the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (difficult) part of all. We have only one chance to filter the right amount of fibers, and only the proper weight guarantees the paper is neither too thin nor too thick, and the margin for error is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (extreme) small," said Zhou. With just the right degree of thickness, top quality Xuan paper holds ink and water tightly.

    The skill of papermaking, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (recognize) as a national treasure, has also proven to be an international one. We felt {#blank#}9{#/blank#} great sense of pride as it was listed as a world intangible culture heritage(非物质文化遗产) by UNESCO in 2009. Since then, in Jingxian County, Xuan papermaking {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (teach) in schools.

    When I was a kid, Mom used to cook food for us. One night after {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (spend) a long hard day at work, Mom placed a plate of bread jam and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (extreme) burnt toast（烤面包） in front of my dad, I was waiting {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (see) if he noticed it. However, while eating his toast. Dad just asked me {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} I do remember I heard Mom apologizing to Dad for burning the toast. I'll never forget what Dad said, “Honey, I love burnt toast.”

    Later that night, I {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go) to kiss Daddy good night and asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He gave me {#blank#}7{#/blank#} big hug and said, “Your mamma put in a long hard day at work today, really {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (tire). Besides, a burnt toast never hurts but cold words do!”

    What I've learned over the years {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) that learning to accept each other's faults is one of the most important {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (key) to creating a healthy, growing and lasting relationship.

    If you're in a hurricane(飓风)-hit area and plan on riding it out, proper {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (prepare) is key. And there is one thing you should have around at all times: a plastic water bottle. Why? When the weather {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (take) a turn for the worse, a water bottle is one of the most useful things {#blank#}3{#/blank#} you have in your home. It might even save your life.
