Lincoln is 13 years old. Every morning, he gets up at six o'clock, and then {#blank#}1{#/blank#} out the rubbish while he is on the way to buy breakfast for his family. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} he comes back home, he wakes up his little sister and dresses her. Then he calls his parents for breakfast. They sleep on the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} floor of the house. Lincoln wants them to sleep a little {#blank#}4{#/blank#} because they're tired after a day's work.

Now he is good at almost all the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} washing clothes, making dinner and looking after his five-year-old sister, Sally. But two years ago, he hardly {#blank#}6{#/blank#} out around the house. "I thought housework was for my parents at that time, but soon I knew I was wrong. Everyone should help with a few things at home. We can't depend {#blank#}7{#/blank#} our parents all the time," he said.

Every Friday, Lincoln gets fifty dollars from his parents as his pocket money. "I think it's good to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the children for the housework. They can get money and buy {#blank#}9{#/blank#} they need, and anyway, they can learn how to manage (管理) their money and become more {#blank#}10{#/blank#}," said Lincoln's mom.

 Some artists are often not famous in their lifetime. Vincent Van Gosh(梵高) was one of  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (they). People did not pay much attention to his works. He began to think he was not a very good artist. But he did not stop {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (paint). Vincent loved it. He would become so {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (interest) in what he was doing that he did not want to stop. He would even forget {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (eat)!

 His early paintings were dark. He used lots of brown and dark green. Later, Vincent moved to France. He wanted to learn from the artists working there. They were trying new {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (way) of painting. In France, Vincent began using bright colors and bold brushstrokes, He used oil paints to create his art. He painted the countryside. He painted people, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . He also painted his own portrait(肖像画). He created more than 20 portraits of {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (he).

 People did not buy Vincent's paintings in his lifetime. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} today his paintings sell for a lot of money. Most people think his paintings are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (popular) of all the art pieces. His still life(静物画) of yellow sunflowers in a pitcher is well-known. Another famous painting is of yellow stars in a dark blue sky. In his lifetime, he {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (finish) more than 2,000 paintings.
