My parents used to tell me how important school was for me, but I didn't think so. I paid little attention to it. But one thing let me finally 1  what my parents meant.

    One day, when I 2 a mobile phone store, I saw an advertisement on its door. It was hiring new workers!

    "Sir, are you hiring people?" I went 3 the shop and asked. "Yes, but you should be the man who we need," the manager answered. He looked at me for a few 4 from head to foot. "Do you have a high school diploma(文凭)?" 5 he, "Or do you have any work experience?"

    I felt so ashamed and 6 that I didn't know what to say, so I just turned around and left.

    I could not fall asleep that night, and I thought a lot about my 7. "I must go to school or I can't do anything without a good education," I 8 to myself silently. I never went back to the store again 9 I finished my study and got a diploma.

    Now I am still working in the same store. With this experience, I always 14 people to attend school. Education helps you have a bright future. Now I am not worried about my future because I'm still 15 in my spare time.

Linda and Betty wereboth 19 years old. When the school year was over {#blank#}1{#/blank#} June, they decided {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (have) a car travel inthe countryside. So they took off their clothes and were going to jump into thewater {#blank#}9{#/blank#}at that time, the woman shouted," Sorry, Madams. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (swim) is not allowedin the lake!"" Why didn't you tell us about it before we took off ourclothes?" Betty said angrily.

"I just want a normal(正常的) birthday party,"April told her 1 as they walked home from school. They knew what April meant. 2 April was born on Earth Day, all 3 birthday parties had something to do with the environment(环境).

At the age of 7, her parents asked her to 4 all newspapers and sold them to buy presents. Last year, at 8, she planted trees. This year, she just wanted to plan her own5 birthday party.

April decided to go to the6 with her friends and she was excited that she didn't have to think anything about the7 this time.

However, things were quite 8 . When they arrived, they felt sorry for what they saw. There was9 here and there. She couldn't have fun,  10 so much litter out there.

But April wanted a non-Earth Day birthday. After a long struggle(挣扎), she asked,"Can we 11 the litter first and then visit the animals here?"

"Of course!"said her friends.

April was 12 to hear that, so they began to collect litter and it didn't take long. 13 they made it. April looked at the clean square and 14 . "It felt good to do something for the earth," she thought.

"Happy Earth Day, everyone," said April. "Now I'm ready for my zoo."

"Happy birthday, April!"shouted her friends.

"Thank you all for always celebrating such 15 birthdays with me."

Jaime Deigh is a teacher at R. E. Baker Elementary School. On March 3，it was the last day of Spirit Week in this school. And all the students must 1 as their favorite superhero （超级英雄）. When Jaime arrived at the 2 ，she was happy to see fun characters （人物） like Wonder Woman and Spider﹣Man. But one student was 3 . It was her student，Caroline Carlson. Caroline wore the same clothes as her. 

"She gave me a big 4 ，" Jaime said， "She was wearing the same clothes just as mine，a T﹣shirt5 ，jeans，and tennis shoes. " It was 6 for the young student to decide who her favorite superhero is. 

"Heroes don't need superpower. They're just trying to make the world a better place，" Carlson says. "Ms. Jaime is a 7 teacher. She doesn't only teach us "teacher stuff"，but also teaches us how to be kind and responsible，and how to be a good person. "

According to Ms. Jaime，this is the first time in her 19 years of 8 that one of her students has honored （尊敬） her in this way. She was so touched that she wanted to walk around the school. She also said that this kind act was telling her not to take her small. "You never know the influence （影响） that your 9 might have on a 10 . " she said. 

Alena is from Texas. She dreamed of becoming an engineer at the age of 16 when she was 12 years old. It may sound impossible, but Alena is not a common girl. She's both clever and hard-working. She is now studying engineering at her dream university. She would love to build a rover (探测器) to go to space. 

Believe it or not, the story started with Lego (乐高) . At the age of4, Alena loved playing around with different kinds of Lego and showed great love for building things. Little Alena loved to look at the stars at night. Once, she said seriously, "Mom, I'm going to work for NASA. I'm going to travel to space in a rocket. " Her mom was surprised at the little girl's dream. She couldn't believe what she heard. 

Alena is planning to write a book for children. "I' d like to ask more girls to follow their dreams, " she said. 

Alena won't let anything stop her working hard for her dreams. "When I plan to do something, I just go for it, " she said. 

Our teacher asked us to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a form about our favourite books and why we like the books. As I finished it, my mind{#blank#}3{#/blank#} {#blank#}4{#/blank#} {#blank#}5{#/blank#}the stories from the books. I had read before. This form not only helped the teacher learn more about us, but also made me think of my reading journey.
