    There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them to go and look at a pear tree far away in turns.

    The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

    When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly. The second son said no; it was covered with green leaves, and full of hope. The third son disagreed. He said there were many flowers that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them, he said there was lots of fruit in the tree, full of life and harvest（收获）.

    The manthen explained to his sons that they were all right, but they had each seenonly one season in the tree's life. He told them" You cannot judge a tree,or a person by only one season and its true nature —the pleasure, joy, and lovethat come from that life can only be judged at the end, when all the seasons are up."

    If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, harvest of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season kill the joy of all the rest.

    A farmer had a friend and his friend was famous for growing wonderful apple trees.

    One day, the farmer's friend gave him a young apple tree and told him to take it home and plant it.

    The farmer loved the gift. But when he got home, he did not know where to plant it. He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the apples. If he planted the tree in one of his fields, his neighbors would come at night and steal the apples. If he planted the tree near his house, his children would take the apples. Finally he planted the tree in his wood. Nobody could see it, but there was no sunlight in his wood, the tree soon died.

    Later, the friend asked the farmer why he planted the tree in such a poor place. "What's the difference?" the farmer said angrily, "If I plant the tree near the road, strangers may steal the apples. If I plant the tree in one of my field, my neighbors may come at night and steal the apples. If I plant the tree near my house, my children may take the apples."

    "Yes," said the friend. "but at least someone could enjoy the apples. Now no one could eat the apples, and the apple tree died!"

Damon tossed(扔) the tennis ball high in the air and watched. Prince ran and caught it in his mouth.

"Good boy, Prince!" Damon said.

Prince dropped the ball at Damon's feet just as a bark came from the next door. Damon looked up to see a little puppy(幼犬) run out of the house.

"Come on, Prince," Damon said. "Scott got a new puppy. Let's go to say hi."

Damon ran over to Scott. "Hey," Damon said.

Damon bent down and laughed, "What's his name?"

"Duke. My dad brought him home for me last night."

"Hi, Duke," Damon said.

Prince barked and nudged the tennis ball towards Damon.

"Not now," Damon said. "I'm playing with Duke."

Duke tried to pick up the tennis ball, but his mouth was too small.

"Sorry, little guy. You need to grow a little before you can play with the ball," Damon said.

"Hey," Scott said, "show Duke how well Prince can catch the ball."

Damon wanted to keep playing with Duke. But Scott said to him, "Come on, show him."

Damon got up. He tossed the ball high in the air, and Prince jumped up to catch it.

"Wow!" Scott said. "I can't wait for Duke to be big enough to do that."

"But the puppy is so cute and fun," Damon said.

"Yeah, but Duke is too little to play with a ball. Prince is like having a friend around all the time," Scott said.

Damon looked at Prince and smiled. He was happy to have a dog who was also a friend.

Nicky got home from school, looking unhappy. "What's the matter, my dear?" her mum asked. Nicky {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(拒绝) to say anything about her problem at first, but her mum kept asking. At last, Nicky {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (解释) to her mum.

I'm a middle school student. My school is very beautiful. There are lots of tall trees and beautiful {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(flower) in it. Walking in my school is very relaxing. It's also a good place to study. 

This is our school library {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all kinds of books. Look! The librarian(图书管理员)Tina is helping a new student {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(look) for a book. She is {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(real) kind and friendly. We all love her {#blank#}5{#/blank#}we enjoy reading here. Now we can spend {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(many) time reading books in the library than before because of the double reduction policy (双减政策). 

There is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} big and beautiful playground in front of the classroom. We usually have {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(we) PE class there. Last week, we had a Sports Day on the playground. All the teachers and students were really {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(excite). We had a great time and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(take) quite a lot of photos.
