Ask three people to look out of the same window at a busy street corner and tell you what they see. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(chance) are that you will receive three different answers. Each person sees the same scene, but each perceives something different about {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    Perceiving goes on in our minds. Of {#blank#}3{#/blank#} three people who look out of the window, one may say that he sees a policeman {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(give) a motorist a ticket. Another may say that he sees rush-hour traffic jam at the intersection. The {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(three) may tell you that he sees a woman trying to cross the street with four children. Perception is the mind's {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(interpret) of what the senses — in this case our eyes — tell us.

    Many psychologists today are working to try {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(determine) just how a person experiences or perceives the world around. Using a scientific approach, these psychologists set up experiments in  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} they can control all of the factors.  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} measuring and charting the results of many experiments, they are trying to find out what makes different people perceive  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(total) different things about the same scene.

    Over time, many flowering plants and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (they) animal pollinators(传粉昆虫) have evolved together. The plant needs the animal to pollinate it and the animal {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (reward) with food called nectar when it visits the flowers. Pollen becomes {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (attach) to the animal during its visit to a flower{#blank#}4{#/blank#} is then passed on to another plant's blossom on its next visit. So pollination takes place, therefore {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (increase) the chances of the survival of the plant species.

    The type of pollinator {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (depend) on the characteristics of the flower such {#blank#}7{#/blank#} its colour, shape, size and smell. For example, yellow flowers attract bees, while red flowers attract {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  (butterfly). The nectar in some flowers can only be reached by a bird {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a long bill or a long-tongued moth or butterfly. Flowers that attract bees often have a special way {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (guide) the bees to the nectar inside.

    There was no one quite like my father. When any other man had an extra dollar, he bought a drink; when Father had an extra dollar, he bought a book. Other people had pictures on their walls, or at least a calendar; we had books, 3000 of them, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(line) every surface of our little four-room house {#blank#}2{#/blank#} every subject. By the time I was in the fifth grade, I'd recite {#blank#}6{#/blank#} classical literature to poetry and had to be prepared to do {#blank#}7{#/blank#} Then Father would warn by quoting a saying from Shakespeare, “{#blank#}8{#/blank#} all the year were playing holidays, to sport would be as tedious(乏味的) as to work. “Obviously, his efforts weren't {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (entire) in vain, for my voice has enable me to earn a fair livelihood. But that fact doesn't begin to define the most debt {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I owe my father.

    My feelings about science have{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (complete) changed. More than one science teachers at my new school {#blank#}2{#/blank#} excellent and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (friend) . In the last 20 years, seven Canadian scientists{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (win) the Nobel Prize. Now{#blank#}9{#/blank#} I'm becoming more and more interested in is physics and I want to study it at university. But my parents are {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (astonish), as they always thought I would become an English teacher.

The development of the paintings matured in the Ming and Qing dynasties, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} the art hit its heyday(全盛期).

    Traditional printing {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(method) of New Year paintings include woodblock printing, stone-block printing, offset(胶印) printing, traditional Chinese painting, watercolor painting and sketches etc. Woodblock-printed New Year paintings are the most popular and interesting {#blank#}10{#/blank#}, according to a recent survey.

    A father was worried about his son{#blank#}1{#/blank#}was sixteen years old but had no courage (勇气) at all. So the father decided to look for a Buddhist monk(僧侣){#blank#}2{#/blank#} (train) his boy.

    The Buddhist monk said to the boy's father, “I insist that your son should be left alone here. I'll make him into a real man within three {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (month). However, you can't come to see him during this period.”

    “What a shame!” the boy's father said, “I never thought he would be so {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (easy) knocked down. I needn't have him stay here any {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (long)!

    “I'm sorry that that's all you see. Don't you see that each time he falls down, he stands up again instead of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (cry)? That's the kind of courage you wanted him to have.
