广西来宾市2020届九年级上学期英语期末考试试卷(含听力音频)

根据短文内容,判断下列句子正误。

Television has a huge influence on our lives. It is one of the most important ways of getting information. People spend part of their spare time watching television, and much of what they learn comes from it.

What we see on TV-movies, news shows, sports shows, advertisements and so on have increased our knowledge and have changed the way we learn about the world today. However, not everything on TV is true.

Most of the viewers are children. Television sometimes is like a babysitter(保姆). It spends more time with children than parents do. But it keeps them in the living room away from healthy outdoor activities. They spend less time playing soccer or walking in the park or playing games in the yard.

Of course, there are some programs on TV that are good for children. But there are also some shows which are bad. Children should not watch unhealthy shows. Maybe we can't change what is on TV, but we can choose what we watch. Do you agree?

(1)、Watching TV is one of the most important ways to get information.
(2)、Everything on TV is true.
(3)、Children spend less time watching TV than staying with their parents.
(4)、Children spend more time playing football or walking in the park.
(5)、Children should not watch unhealthy shows.

Aren't mobile phones, e-mail and WeChat supposed to help us communicate more easily? Sadly, that's not always the case. Take the other day for example, when I was walking through the park with my friend, suddenly his mobile phone rang and he answered it—leaving me alone and cutting our conversation dead! In fact, the park was filled with people talking on their mobile phones. They talked with other people without even looking at them, or stopping to walk their dogs. Clearly, people preferred contacting on the mobile phone to face-to-face talk.

Why is it that the more connected we get, the more disconnected I feel?

Development in communication technology seems to keep people away from one another. With e-mail over the Internet, we can communicate without seeing or talking to each other. With WeChat or QQ, we can have conversations without even meeting that person. Even some food stores are using self-scanners(自助扫描仪)so that you can check yourself out.

As the contact between human beings becomes automated, my feeling of being disconnected gets stronger. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against machines. I also own a mobile phone, a QQ, a WeChat, and an e-mail account. Giving them up isn't a good idea, as they are useful to have around. It's just that when they keep us away from human contact, I begin to feel sad. Gradually, I find myself answering e-mail instead of talking to people. The technology that was made to help keep us in contact with each other is, in fact, making me feel more lonely.

How old is"old"? The answer has changed over the years. Two hundred years ago , you were old at 35. That was the average life span(跨度; 范围) then. At the turn of this century, as medical knowledge improved , the average life span increased to 45. In 1950,70-year-olds were really old. Today, a healthy70-year-old is looking forward to many more active years.

So, how old is old? Once an unknown writer wrote, "Youth is not a time of life but is a state of mind. Nobody grows old by living a number of years; people grow old by giving up their goals."

Old is a point of view. Alice Brophy, when she was with the New York City commission for the Aging, said , "It makes me angry when people say, 'Gee , you look young for your age!' What does that mean? Is there a model that you' re supposed to look a certain way at 65 and 75 and 85? You know you can die old at30 and live young at 80."

There are many wrong ideas about aging. These ideas stereotype(固化) people on the basis of age. Here are some of them and the facts.

Wrong idea 1: Most older people are in poor health.

Fact 1: Not so. There are neither biological(生物的) nor physiological(生理的) reasons to connect poor health with growing older. Older people are more likely to be affected(使感染) with illness , ____▲____ . It is possible to remain physically healthy throughout your life.

Wrong idea 2: When you get old, you become senile(年老糊涂的).

Fact 2: Older people can be smart as young minds. Senility is a sign of disease; it is not part of aging process.

Wrong idea 3: Older people are unable to change.

Fact 3: Older people are as easily-changed in their life-styles as young and middle-aged people. Though sometimes they face the very big pressures about death of close friends, financial or family problems, they deal wonderfully well. Older people give up smoking and break other bad habits, just as successfully as younger people.
