Once there was a father and a son. They were ill-tempered(坏脾气的) and never gave way to  1 .One day the father 2 to ask some friends to dinner in his house. He 3 his son to buy some meat in town. When the son walked towards the town gate, a man was coming from the outside. The gate wasn't 4 enough to let two men in and out at the same time. But neither of 5 would give way to the other. They stood straight face to face inside the gate hour after hour. But the father was worried. “What shall I do? My son hasn't 6  yet. I can't wait any more.” He wanted to know what was the 7 with his son. So he left his friends at home, and went to town 8 his son. “You may first take the 9 home for my friends .Let me 10 here instead.” he said to his son when he knew what had happened.

    I left school against the advice of my parents and became a worker in a factory. However, I still tried to 1 my studies in literature (文学) at evening classes.

    It was a long walk on cold winter nights and it was 2 to put my heart into Shakespeare with wet shoes and trousers. So I started writing 3 at home.

    By chance, I won some prizes for literature. One day a woman from a TV 4 came and told me I had won a national poetry prize. I looked at her 5 and disbelieved what she said. They made a short film of me reading one of my poems. Literature became more 6 for me and I didn't want to 7 in the factory. So I told my parents l wanted to get back to 8. They were greatly surprised, of course, also 9. They asked me if l was sure. I told them nothing could 10 me. So, again I came back to class.

    When I was a teenager growing up in France, I wanted to leave school and have my own life. The only way I could 1 this was to work in the local paper factory in my town, or get married. I was very nervous when I told my 2I wanted to leave school. I thought he would say, "3. You are going to college." I was very 4 when he said, "OK. Let's go to the paper factory."

    Two days later, 5 took me to the factory. I imagined everyone to be friends 6 together and having fun. I even imagined there would be music and singing. I 7 I had watched too many movies as a teenager.

    When we 8 the factory gates, my father spoke to the guard(门卫) and one minute later we were 9. I walked around the factory looking at the building, the workers, and listening to the noise.  It was 10. I ran back to my father and said, "I want to go home."

    He asked me, "What do you think of the 11?"

    "Too bad," I answered.

    "And marriage is even 12!" he said.

   I went back to school the next day thinking about studying hard13 I could get into a good college. I 14 studying English so I decided to major in（主修） languages at college. Thanks to my father and our 15to the paper factory, I now work at the United Nations and my father is very proud of me. I married a very good man and my life is much better than it would have been working in the factory!

    Canton Porcelain (广彩) has a history of more than 300 years, dating back to the Qing Dynasty (1636-1911). Canton Porcelain became popular around the world1its beautiful colors.

Xu Enfu is known as a Canton Porcelain master. Xu Junru, his daughter, showed2great love for it when she was a little girl. She enjoyed staying with her father while he3the porcelain painting. They think it's necessary4them to add modern patterns into their pieces. They mix modern techniques5a traditional feel. Cartoon patterns, such as Hello Kitty and Doraemon6on the plates. This idea wins children's hearts. Their works are so wonderful7they attract many foreigners. They decide8this traditional skill to people around the world.

    A group of foreigners9to join this Canton Porcelain workshop held by GD Today. They were10to experience how to make Canton Porcelain.

    Mansha said, "It is my first time to paint on a plate or porcelain. It's difficult for me to do the black line." Foreigners had about just one hour to finish11patterns and colors for their own plates. Oxana challenged herself to paint the Canton Tower on12own to remember her time in Guangzhou. Simon painted a Chinese character13on the plate. It was a good idea that he made this plate for his grandma in U.K..
