On December 14，2017，we were sorry to hear that Yu Guangzhong, a famous poet died of illness in Taiwan. He was born in Nanjing in 1928. His mother's hometown is in Wujin，Changzhou. So he called himself a southern person.

    Later, he went to Taiwan. In 1952 he graduated from Taiwan University. Then he graduated from University of LOWA in 1959. He taught at Soochow University, Normal University, Taiwan University , and Chengchi University. He got a lot of prizes in literature(文学)，such as.Wu San lien Literature Prize, China Times Award, Golden Tripod，National Arts Award and all the major(主要的)Awards in Taiwan. He is famous both in Taiwan and in Mainland.

    He was in Taiwan, but he always missed his hometown in Mainland. In one of his poems Nostalgia(乡愁) ，he showed his feeling of homesickness. Let's enjoy his famous poem Nostalgia.

When I was young，                   But later on,

Surrounded(环绕) by mountains and snow, Chinese pianist Lang Lang played "Loving Dream", "Jasmine Flower" and "Goldberg Variations" at the highest railway station in central Switzerland. The show was {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (warm) welcomed by the audience(观众). What he did helped with the cultural exchanges between China and Europe by means of music.

ChatGPT is developed by a US company OpenAI, and it has taken the Internet by storm,  winning 100 million users since it came out in November 

2022. People can ask the robot to write stories and emails, create menus, translate languages, and answer all kinds of questions. 

 Compared with Siri or other chatbots(聊天机器人), ChatGPT uses a much bigger database(数据库) for training. It also uses stronger software and hardware to learn things by itself. For example, if it provides a wrong answer to your question, you can tell it the right one and it will make corrections. " It's a totally different product. " the computer scientist Liu Xiaoguang from Nankai University told Tianjin Daily. " The knowledge level ChatGPT shows is almost the same asa university student. That's why it shocked the world. "

 But one big problem with ChatGPT is that it makes mistakes or even gives fake information. When Rezza, a 28- year- old man from Indonesia, used the robot to write a passage, " It gave out unreal academic(学术的) speech. " he said. Since the robot is trained using words from the Internet, it may also have an unfair opinion about certain groups. These are all things that need to be solved. 

 Although the latest AI product helps a lot, we should still think twice before using ChatGPT for help. Whether that's a good or bad thing needs to be seen. 

Miss Dinsmore lived in a little house. She bought it two years {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. She wished it looked happier, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she decided to paint it a bright(鲜艳的) color.

Did you know that vocabulary is more important than grammar? If you have good vocabulary, you can communicate successfully, even if the grammar is not completely perfect.

However, one common problem is learning new words and then forgetting them. So when you want to use a new word in a conversation, you can't remember it at that moment. Does this often happen to you? The reason for this difficulty is that most students try to learn vocabulary by studying lists and dictionaries and remembering the words. But it may not work if you don5t have a very good memory.

The best way to learn vocabulary and remember the words well, is to learn new words and use them at once.

You can do this with a very simple exercise. Every time you learn a new word, for example, from an English lesson or an article, write it down in your vocabulary notebook. Writing is more active than just reading a definition. You should write the word, the definition in English or translation, one example sentence from the article or dictionary and one example sentence that you create.

Imagine you just learn the word "generous", write in your vocabulary notebook: generous (adjective), definition—giving or willing to give freely. Example one, from the article: Thanks for paying for my dinner, you're very generous. Example two, my example: My brother is generous because he volunteers at the animal shelter on weekends. It's best if your example sentences are true to your life, because this creates a personal connection with the new word. The next day, read your vocabulary notebook again and try to add one more example sentence using the new word. It's helpful for you to remember it. These two simple steps—writing the word and using it at once—help you remember and use new words.

I arrived home from work, but my mind was still busy. I was going to perform a very important experiment, but I had spent the whole day worrying about it. And I wanted to shake off my worries very much. So after dinner, I made a cup of hot chocolate, sat on my sofa, and opened a page. Almost at once, my mind left behind the experiment and went into a wonderful world different from my daily life. It was exactly what I needed.

 Growing up, I was actually never a big fan of novels. My classmates would be crazy about the latest novel, while my copy sat collecting dust on a bookcase. Instead, I would choose to read through the books about school lessons. After I started graduate school, extra reading didn't interest me at all, but I spent most of my time at school working on research papers and my mind couldn't process nonfiction(非小说类纪实作品) books at home. So I knew that I needed to find a way to enjoy reading again.

 To help me stick to it. I made a New Year's resolution: I would read two fiction books per month. The result was that I loved fiction almost at once, along with many unexpected results including ones that are good for my schoolwork.

★some of the best books I read were historical fiction books. I learned life in different countries, as well as challenges which people there faced during difficult periods in their histories. The books have helped me build sympathy and understanding, with an unexpected advantage: I' ve started to think more deeply about the different types of the scientific problems in my study and could se rve them with all my heart.
