I have been very lucky to make many trips to China. Though I have had some trouble with the language, I have never had a problem I couldn't solve. As a native English speaker（土生土长的说英语的人），I can go almost everywhere in the world and find someone to communicate with. I never thought that someone who speaks only Chinese would have a lot of trouble in my country.

Recently, the King family that I had met in China moved to Canada. I met them at the airport. My wife and I made meals for them and showed them around where we live. Everything seemed to go smoothly for the first two days as we looked for a car for them, showed them the way to different stores and the nearest city, Victoria. Mr. and Mrs King had a two-year-old son and soon we became Nainai (grandmother) and Yeye (grandfather). We were having a good time but we didn't realize Mr. King can't speak English.

Luckily, Mrs. King can speak very good English. Many people with Chinese background live near us. In fact, none of them speak Chinese. Mr. King can't even buy a mobile phone without his wife's help. He can't talk to me, of course. By the third day, he felt lonely and worried. And on the fourth day, we decided to take them to a large Chinese community.

Now, we often visit them and they visit us too. Sometimes Mrs. King would still like to live near us but Mr. King cannot. I feel bad because he seems very nice and smart but I can't talk with him. It seems that neither of us will learn the other's language because of our ages, maybe we will never have a friendly conversation. But we will think of each other as friends.

    May 10th is Meg's birthday. She gets a gift. It is a new coat from her sister. The coat is very beautiful and she feels very happy.

    One day, Meg finds that a button(纽扣)of her coat is lost. She looks for the button everywhere, but she can't find it. The next day, she doesn't wear that coat to school and feel sad all day. After school, she goes to the clothes shops and wants to buy that kind of clothes. But she feels disappointed.

    Meg tells her sister about that, her sister says," We can change all the buttons. Then the buttons will be the same." The coat is beautiful again and Meg feels happy again.

Albert Einstein was a world famous scientist. He was born in Germany and later lived in America. He was best known for his theory of relativity（相对论）. This theory changed the way we understand space and time. Einstein had wild hair and always looked deep in thought. He always reminded us to keep asking questions.

One day, a young man asked Albert Einstein what the secret of success was. The scientist told him that the secret of success was hard work. A few days later the young man asked the same question again. Einstein was very "annoved". He did not say anything, but wrote a few words on a piece of paper. On the paper it was written: A=X+Y+Z.

"What does this mean?" asked the young man.

"‘A' means success." explained the old scientist. "‘X'stands for hard work, ‘Y' forgood method（方法）and ‘Z' means stop talking and get down to work."

Shawn and Pat were brothers. Twelve-year-old Shawn liked to play jokes. He did not always do his homework on time. Sometimes he forgot to wash the dishes. His bedroom was a mess! Pat, on the other hand, had always behaved like an angel. "What a wonderful baby!" his mother would say. "He never cried!" His teachers always said, "What a joy it is to have Pat in class! He is so different from his brother."

Pat did not think much about how great he was until one day when he was watching Mostly Martin. In the show, a new boy had moved to town. "He is strange," said Martin. "He never gets into trouble. He does everything he's supposed to do. Everyone thinks he is perfect. He must be a robot!"

He went to find Shawn. "Am I a robot?" he asked. "Of course not." said Shawn as he went outside. Pat thought hard. Robots were machines. They looked like people, but they were not really alive. They always followed orders. How would you know that you were one?

Pat decided to ask his parents. After all, they must know. He asked at dinner. His father laughed. "Sure!" he said, "And it's time to change your batteries (电池)!" He jumped up and ran to the tool drawer. "Dad's just kidding!" said Pat's mother. "Of course you are not a robot, Pat. You are our son." Pat felt better for a while. But that night he began to worry again. Of course his mother said he was real. Nice mothers would not tell their sons they are robots!

Pat ran to Shawn's room. Shawn was playing a computer game in the dark. "How can I know for sure that I am not a robot?" asked Pat. For once, Shawn did not play a joke on his little brother. He could tell that Pat was really worried. After all, Pat was only six.

"What makes you think that you are one?" he said.

"People always say I am perfect," answered Pat. "But only robots are!" Shawn smiled to himself. He knew exactly what to do. "Listen!     ▲    " he said to Pat.

The next morning, his mother opened Pat's bedroom door. "Time to get up!"

 "No," said Pat. His mother was surprised. This had never happened before. "Get up."

 "No!" shouted Pat. He kicked his feet and rolled around in bed.

"Patrick!" his mother said in a loud voice. "Get out of bed this minute!" Pat gave a few more kicks. He felt very silly. He was also happy. No robot would ever act this way. He was a real boy. Now he knew for sure.

In 2024, the best thing for me was becoming a junior high school student. On September 1, I went to school happily and was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(准备好的) to start a new life. 

Now I am always very busy, with so many {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(活动) to do and things to learn. But I am not afraid of making {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(错误). In class, I always put up my hand when I have questions. I am not good at {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(化学), so I do a lot of exercise. My teacher tells us to think by {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(我们自己). I keep these good learning habits and I am sure they will help me get {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(更好)in the future. 

In our school, the teachers are kind and knowledgeable(知识渊博的). The students are {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(乐于助人的) and hard-working. We study together in class and play games after class. We have different {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(业余爱好) but we are like brothers and sisters. Our school {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(举办) sports events in our playground every year. This year, I got the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(第一) prize in a running race. 

All in all, I'm very happy that I am a junior high school student. I really enjoy my junior high school life. 

 Emma dreamed of writing a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(小说). She had some ideas but wasn't sure how to begin. She imagined a story where characters would {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(对待) each other with kindness and respect.

 At the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(中心的) part of her story, she planned to show how friends support each other. She wisely decided to {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(避免) making everything too easy for her characters. She wanted to{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(划分) the story into chapters(章节), each showing different moments of life.

 In one chapter, a character {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(哭) after losing something special, feeling completely{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(空洞的) inside. Everyone around seemed joyful {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(除了) this one person. By the end,

Emma hoped to show that there is always hope and {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(大量) of love around. She believed her book would be {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(广泛地) enjoyed by readers looking for encouragement.
