There are two kinds of robots. The first type is the industrial robot. The second type of robots help us in our everyday lives. Robots of the later type are being used widely in Japan these days, helping people out in many areas—in hospitals, at homes and in schools.

Recently professor Tomomasa Sato and others developed a “robotic room”. This room is a robot itself, and they let the robot help the people inside. It has ten video cameras on the top of the room and walls. The robot can help the doctors and nurses do a lot of work with the help of its arms and nine computers. The robot's arms can lift and carry things needed by sick persons and nurses, and can throw waste things away.

   In the future, we may have robots at home to help out with the chores. Many people think these robots should look and move like humans. At Honda Motor Company, people made a robot that has two arms and two legs and can walk by itself, just like a person. This robot can walk freely by checking the road it walks on, and use its arms to do different things. The robot is 180 centimeters tall and weighs 210 kilograms. It can not only walk around flat places but go up and down stairs as well. It can also do such things as moving a bag. Not too far in the future, robots that look like movie characters may lend us a hand in our everyday jobs.

    When we are talking to someone, we tend to change someone else's mind to our way of thinking. And we may often find it difficult to do that. So here are five tips on how to change someone's mind.

    The first one is never to turn the conversation into an argument. It should be a conversation where you show your opinions and the facts that you've collected. By showing them the facts, we want to tell other people that we are right. But emotionally, they may not totally agree with what you say. So when you are trying to change someone's mind, try to keep it as a conversation and not an argument.

    The second tip is never to say that you are wrong. If someone makes a statement that you think is wrong, it's better to point it out by saying, “I thought otherwise but I might be wrong, let's look at the facts.” The key is to say that you might be wrong, not that you are wrong. This opens up the other person to look at the data again and shows them that you're not bullheaded (顽固的) and that you're not going to change your opinion. You're showing them that you are open to new ideas and this is super important in changing someone else's mind to your way of thinking.

    Tip number three is to get the other person saying yes as fast as possible. You may begin your conversation on hobbies that you guys have, something that they're crazy about, something that gets them saying yes. Because the more that you get them to say yes now, the more likely they are to say yes in the future. A conversation like this will get them to start to like you and maybe even more open up to ideas that you have. It builds up trust between the two of you.

    Tip number four is to let the other person do a great amount of talking. If you let them talk more, you're going to show that you actually care about their opinions and ideas, which will earn their respect in the end. By listening to them, you're going to create a friendly relationship and build trust. So when you express your opinions, they will also show a willingness to listen. Never interrupt them when they are talking. Just listen patienly with an open mind, encourage them to talk even more and more so that when it's your tum to talk, they'll listen and say nothing.

    The last tip is to let the other person feel like the idea was theirs. It's wiser to make suggestions and let someone else come to the conclusion, then they have a sense of pride that it's their idea. Giving someone the data and letting them come to the conclusion let them feel like it is their idea and they are proud of it.

In the first study of children's safety in the US, the National Safe Kids Campaign(运动) (NSKC) found that nearly half of the injury-related(与受伤相关的) deaths among children happen in summer.

    Americans with small families have a small car or a large one. If both parents are working, they usually have two cars. When the family is large, one of the cars is sold and they will buy a van(面包车).

    A small car can hold four people and a large car can hold six people but it is very crowded(拥挤的). A van can hold seven people easily, so a family with three children could ask their grandparents to go for a holiday. They could all travel together.

    Mr Hagen and his wife had a third child last year. This made them sell a second car and buy a van. The sixth and seventh seats are used to put other things, for a family of five must carry many suitcases when they travel.

    Americans call vans motor homes. A motor home is always used for holidays. When a family is travelling to the mountains or to the seaside, they can live in their motor home for a few days or weeks. All the members of a big family can enjoy a happier life when they are travelling together. That is why motor homes have become very popular. In America there are many parks for motor homes.
