Mary and Peter were having a picnic with some friends near a river when Mary shouted, "Look! That's a spaceship up there and it's going to land here. "

    Frightened by the strange spaceship, all the young people got into their cars and drove away as quickly as possible except Peter and Mary. They were more curious（好奇的）than frightened. They watched the spaceship land and saw a door open, but nobody came out, so they went to look into it. In the centre of the floor, there was a lot of food. Peter followed Mary into the spaceship and did not hear the door close behind him. The temperature fell in no time and very soon the two young people didn't know anything.

    When they came to, they were surprised to see that they were back by the river again. The spaceship had gone. Their car was nearby.

    "What happened?" asked Mary.

    Peter scratched（搔）his head, saying slowly, "Don't ask me. Perhaps we had a problem. Come on. It's time to go home."

    After driving about fifty metres, they found a thick wall made of something like glass stood in their way. On the other side of the wall, a few strange aliens were looking through the wall and reading a notice, which translated into（译成）English said, "New comers at the zoo, a pair of earth villagers in their house on wheels. "

    Zhao Yishen, the 33-year-old artist, is carving a woodblock (雕刻木板) carefully, with a chisel in his right hand. To carve the woodblocks, he has to hold this position for six hours. He has been carving woodblocks since 2012. “It feels good and looks beautiful when a Chinese character slowly appears on the woodblock under your chisel," says Zhao.

    Zhao is now the only full-time carver working at a workshop that creates woodblock-printed books in Beijing. As a teenager he loved to read ancient Chinese books in the library, and the curiosity of how the books were made led him to get a job at an ancient books woodblock printing studio in Yangzhou in 2011 after graduating as a law major from university.

    Block printing was listed as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009. Zhao started to learn the skill from Chen Yishi, one of the skill's masters, in 2012.

    "The first step is to learn how to sharpen your chisel, "says Zhao. “After using it for a while, you need to sharpen it again." After that, the woodblock must be put at a certain angle that is deep enough to show up the characters and also to make sure the cuts are deep enough-but not too deep. Then Zhao puts the paper, face down, onto the wood after brushing oil on the paper. This helps to transfer the characters onto the block. Once the carving is finished, the woodblock is brushed with ink and paper pressed onto it. It is ready to print.

    In Zhao's mind, the inked woodblock is a work of art. After a year of learning from Chen, Zhao found a job at Zhuyu Shanfang in 2013. His carved woodblocks have been used for several books over the past six years. "I just learned the basic skills, but to master it, I still need years of practice,” says Zhao. “A good craftsman can carve an entire book with every single character aligned in order."

Zhi Nong was born in a small town in Yunnan Province. When he was young, he moved to Kunming with his mother. Feeling like a caged (笼中的) bird in a big city, he was bored with the busy and noisy city life and looked forward to nature. 

His chance soon came. In 1983, he helped shoot (拍摄) a documentary about birds. That experience led him to learn photography and take photos of flying birds. 

In the 1980s, the Internet was not that popular in China and cameras were expensive. He managed to borrow a camera and threw himself into studying how to use it. During that time, the library became his favorite place where he first read some magazines about nature. It opened a door for him to connect with nature. 

In 1992, a research program was set up to protect a type of unusual monkeys which only live in China. Usually, the home of these monkeys has half-a-year-long winters. It created great challenges for Zhi Nong's work, but he never drew back. "I didn't see the monkeys in the wild until I went into the mountains the third time," said Zhi Nong. He went into the snow mountains six times just to get valuable photographs of monkeys. 

Three years later, his works won international prizes. People around the world began to pay attention to the protection of wild animals in China. And he is the first Chinese winner of the world Wildlife Photographer of the Year. 

In order to call up tons of people to protect wildlife with cameras, he started "China Wildlife Photography Training. Camp". He hopes that more young people will join in for the nature protection. 

When he was a teenager, Hunter Adams was very unhappy and he spent many years in a special hospital for people with mental (精神的) health problems. 

When he left the hospital, Adams decided to become a doctor, so he went to a medical school in Virginia, the USA. But when he was there, he did things in a different way. For example, he didn't like the doctors' white coats, so he wore shirts with flowers on them when he visited his patients and he tried to make them laugh. The doctors at the medical school didn't like Adams because he was too different. 

But Adams believed that people in hospital need more than medicine. He saw unhappy and lonely people, and he tried to help them. He spent a lot of time with children in hospital and often dressed up like a clown to make the children laugh. When he finished medical school and became a doctor, Adams opened his own hospital, called "The Gesundheit Institute", together with some other doctors. They wanted it to be a place with a different way of working with sick people. 

Hunter Adams became famous during the 1980s, and in 1998, Universal Pictures made a film about his life. It was very successful. In the film (called Patch Adams), Robin Williams played Adams. Williams said, "Adams is a really warm person, who believes that patients need a doctor who is a friend. I enjoyed playing him."

There are twelve months in a year. My favorite 1 is October. First, October 1st is National Day. It's an important festival in China. Everyone is free and 2 on this day. We have  a seven- day holiday(假期). During the holiday, my 3 often take me to see my grandparents in the countryside (乡村). 4 , there are some interesting and fun things in 5 . On the12th, we have a soccer game. I love playing soccer but I don't love basketball 6 it's difficult for me. On October 20th, we have a 7 sale. I have three old books and I want to 8 them there. Then we have a ( an) 9 festival on October 29th. We can draw many beautiful pictures. My birthday is also on this day. October is a really 10 month for me!

We were silently waiting on the platform（站台） in the late afternoon.There he was，my1 grandfather with his grey hair and there I was，a teenage girl in my jeans and T﹣shirt.I was wondering how I was going to get through the next two days.Why did I agree to be with my strange grandpa on the two days' train ride from our city to2 ？

No one else wanted to be his partner along3 way since my grandfather refused to take a plane.Unlike him，I loved to fly because I wanted to get to the destinations（目的地） as4 as possible.No matter how much he 5 about the quickness of flying，my grandfather refused to book a flight，saying， "It is not just about time.It's the experience of getting there. "
