Making friends is a skill. Like most skills, you can improve it if you are patient. If you want to meet people and make friends, you must be willing to take action. You must first go where there are people. You won't make friends staying home {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    Joining a club or a group, talking to those who like the same things as you do is much {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Or join someone in some activity.

    Many people are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} when talking to new people. After all, meeting strangers means seeing the unknown. And it's human nature to feel a bit unpleasant about the unknown. Most of fears about {#blank#}4{#/blank#} with new people come from doubts  about ourselves. We imagine other people are judging us—finding us too tall or too short, too this or too that. But don't forget that they must be feeling the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}way. Try to accept yourself as you are, and try to make others feel at home. You'll all feel more {#blank#}6{#/blank#}.

    Try to be brave even if you don't feel that way when you {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a room full of strangers. Walk tall and straight, look directly at other people and smile.

    If you see someone you'd like to speak to, say something. Don't wait for the other person to start a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}.

    Just meeting someone new does not mean that you'll make friends with that person. Friendship is based on mutual (相互的) likings and "give and take". It takes time and effort (精力)for us to {#blank#}9{#/blank#} friendship. And there are things that stop a new friendship from {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

    We are students from Thailand,and we decide{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(save) elephants. The elephant is one of Thailand's{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(symbol). Our first flag had a white elephant{#blank#}3{#/blank#}it. This is a symbol of luck. Elephants are smart animals. It is easy for them to play soccer{#blank#}4{#/blank#}music. They can also draw very{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(good). In addition, they are strong enough to carry a lot of things for people. People say that an elephant never{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(forget). They can walk for a long time and never get{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(lose). They can also remember places with food and water. This helps them to live. But now elephants are in great{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(dangerous). People cut down many trees, so elephants are losing their homes. People also kill{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(they) for their ivory.Today there are only about 3,000 elephants. It is necessary for us to try our best to save the trees and not to buy things that{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(make) of ivory. It is important to remember that March 13th is Thai Elephant Day.

    One afternoon, I went into an art museum while waiting for my husband. I hope {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (enjoy) the works of art quietly.

    A young couple walked in front of me and talked {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the paintings between themselves all the time. The lady did almost all the talking, but the man kept {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (listen) to her. I thought the man was very patient because nobody would like to be bothered (打扰) while enjoying the paintings.

    I met them several {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (time) as I moved through the different rooms of the art museum. Each time I heard her talking, I moves away {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (quick).

    I was paying for some gifts at the museum shop when the couple walked slowly to the exit (出口). Before they left, the man {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (take) out a cane (拐杖). Then he tapped (轻敲) his way to the coatroom to get the jacket for his wife.

    "He is a brave man," the worker of the shop said. "He decided not to change his life after his eyes got hurt. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} he is blind now, he never gives up. He and his wife come here whenever there is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} new art show."

    "But what can he get out of the art? He can't see!" I asked.

    "You are wrong. He sees a lot, more than you and I do." The worker said, "His wife describes every painting so he can see it in {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (he) mind."

    I fell silent. Then I realized that I learnt something about {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (patient), courage and love that day.

    Li Ye is a student from Green School. Every day, she gets up early. After she {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（get） dressed, she usually goes out to do {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（exercise）with her father first. Then she has breakfast and brushes her {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（tooth）. At about seven o'clock, she {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（leave） home for school. Her school is far {#blank#}5{#/blank#} her home.
