When I was a small boy, something happened to me that made me never put any wild creature in a cage.

    We lived near a forest, and every evening the mockingbird would come and1 I decided to catch a young 2and keep it in a cage, and in this way, I would have my own private musician. Then I succeeded in catching one and put it in a cage. At first, the bird was3so it fluttered (扑腾) in the cage. But finally it was used to living in its new home. I felt very excited with myself and4 some beautiful singing.

    On the second day, the little bird's mother flew to the cage with5 in her mouth. The baby bird ate everything. I was6to see this. Certainly the mother bird knew how to feed her baby better than I did.

    The following morning when I went to see my bird, I found it 7on the floor of the cage. I was terribly surprised and sad! What had happened?

    Arthur Wayne, a famous biologist, happened to8 my father at that time. After she knew my story, she explained to me, “A mother mockingbird, finding her young in a cage, will9 bring it poison berries. She thinks it better for her baby to die than to lose10”.

    Since then I have never caught any living creature and put it in a cage. All living things have a right to live free.

I'd like to tell you something about Zhang Guimei.She is a teacher and she teaches {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（China） at school.She doesn't have any children，{#blank#}2{#/blank#} over 130 homeless girls call her "mum".

Zhang {#blank#}3{#/blank#} （think） it is really important for girls to get education （教育），so she starts the Huaping High School for girls.The school is free for girls from poor {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （family）.Zhang raises （筹集） money for the school {#blank#}5{#/blank#} her free time.

Zhang gives most of her time {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （teach） the girl students.She gets up early in the morning and goes to bed late {#blank#}7{#/blank#} night every day.She also makes many strict school rules （规则）.She asks all the girls to get up at 5：20.And then she turns on （打开） {#blank#}8{#/blank#} lights in the classroom and watches them read.She tells {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （she） students to work hard.And she wants to make {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （that） girls have good lives because of education.

 What comes to your mind when you think of kung fu? Maybe the image of Shaolin monks(和尚) posing with a serious look {#blank#}1{#/blank#}their eyes. But does it really present the meaning of kung fu?

 Laurence, J. Brahm, a documentary filmmaker from the United States, explored this question in Searching for Kung Fu(《寻找功夫》). In the movie, Brahm {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( travel) to cities in China and the US in search of the value of kung fu. 

 Brahm himself is a kung fu {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ( love) who has been practicing the art for more than 40 years. For him, it is more than a pastime. Ages ago, Brahm was unable {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( use) one of his legs for two years and had to walk with a cane(拐杖). But by {#blank#}5{#/blank#} ( practise) martial arts(武术), he was able to recover step by step. Now, kung fu has become a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} ( day) activity for him and also the way he begins the day. 

 Still, there are other deep meanings in the practice. Nonviolence(非暴力) is one value, which{#blank#}7{#/blank#} ( show) both in the name and practice of kung fu. The Chinese character Wu 武 has two parts-"ge戈", meaning"to fight", and"zhi 止", meaning"to stop". So, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} meaning of kung fu in Chinese is the art of stopping fighting, the art of nonviolence. Kung fu artists always greet people with baoquan(抱拳). This lets each person know that there are no hidden weapons(武器) and shown trust. 

"The {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( tradition) values of kung fu, actually, are in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} ( mind) of all Chinese people, " Brahm told Xinhua. 

In southwest China's Chongqing, more subway lines are travelling out to the rural areas around the city, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(special) Line 4 Known {#blank#}2{#/blank#}the "Vegetable Basket Line", Line 4 connects the city's northeast Shichuan town with the city center. Since its opening in since 2022, it {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (offer) local farmers near the town more ways to sell their vegetables. The vegetables used to be cheap in the town, but now they can {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sell) at higher prices in the city. 

Every morning around 6 o'clock, the Shichuan town station is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (crowd)with farmers. They carry baskets filled with fresh vegetables on their {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (back), or us shoulder poles(杆) to carry the baskets. The station used to open at 6:15 am. Now it {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (open)five minutes earlier every day because the workers don't want the farmers to wait outside for too long. 

In Chongqing, people {#blank#}8{#/blank#} are over the age of 65 can take the subway for free. The opening of this subway line helps the elderly not only save money but also save time. According to an elderly couple, it used to take {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) more than one hour to reach the city center as they had to take several buses. Now, by taking the subway, they can get there in less than 30 minutes. And they can sell all their vegetables in less than three hours {#blank#}10{#/blank#}arriving at the market.
