My name is Peter. I live in a small village. In my village, there aren't many cars or buses, and the streets are clean. I 1 all the neighbors and at the end of the day, we get together and talk. We go to bed 2 because there isn't much to do in the evening There aren't any theaters cinemas, museums or clubs. But the children can play in the streets or in nature (大自然).     Many years ago in a village, Harlem, Holland, there lived a young boy. His name was Hans and he was eight years old. One1day, Hans went across the reservoir(水库) to visit an old blind man. He gave the man some biscuits and stayed there for a while. Then, Hans decided to2his home.

After some time, he began to feel very cold and tired, but he could not12the dam. All night long, Hans waited and waited...

    The next morning, a farmer walked by and heard Hans' cries. "I am trying to stop the13,"the boy said. "Can you help me?" The farmer called some other people and they quickly14the hole. Then, they took Hans home. Everyone was very proud of that15boy.

Vincent van Gogh was born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1853. During his 37 {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (year) lifetime, Vincent painted some of the most famous paintings of our time.

One day,I was walking home from school and saw some 1 on the fence (栅栏) of a house.

It said "Happiness is a direction not a place." I was having a bad day but it became a little 2 after reading this. I also took out a pen and wrote one of my favorite quotes (格言) down at once.

When I came back to the 3 the next day, I saw another quote under mine in the  4 as the first one, I added another, so we kept on 5 for quite a while. One day, I was writing another quote on the fence and the old man, one of my neighbors, who  6 the fence, saw me. He came out and I was afraid he would be  7 for writing on his fence; everyone in my

neighborhood knew he was known to be very 8 . He gave me a look of coldness and seriousness and then read the quotes. He then went back inside 9 saying a word to me. I was even uneasier and 10 to go back to the fence. But when I did, I  11 no more quotes but two words in completely different handwriting had been added, "12 ".

Later, I saw the old man in his front yard. 13 , he called me over and told me how my quotes on the fence  14  him, how he thanked me and how he was glad to see young people still have "Values". We are now good friends and I talk to him a lot. This  15 has changed my life. I still don't know who wrote these quotes, but if he is out there, I'd also like to say thanks to that unknown friend.

I used to hate running. In secondary school, I found it really tiring to run and I was always one of the1 students to cross the finish line. Then, in 2023, my friend asked me 2 I would like to run a 10K event with him. I answered without thinking, "No way! I hate running."

 Over the weekend, I3 his question. "Why do I hate running when I haven't tried it since Year 7 in secondary school?" In the end, I decided I should give running another4 before I said I hated it. I told my friend I would like to go to the 10K event with him. He was happy to hear that I would5 him. He advised me to look on the Internet for a running program to help me learn 6 to run.

 There were lots of running programs on the Internet. I7 a 14-week running program that would teach me how to run for 30 minutes non-stop. I enjoyed following the program as I could see8 in my running each week. I went from hating running to loving running!

 On the day of the 10K running event, my friends and father came to 9 for me. With their support(支持) and my training, I finished the 10K in 72 minutes. It was difficult, but I felt very proud for having tried it. From this 10 , I learned that it is a good idea to try something before saying you hate it!
