Many people still remember the beautiful dance “Thousand-hand Guanyin” in the CCTV Spring Festival Party. The lead dancer of the dance is Tai Lihua.

    When Tai Lihua was two years old, she lost her hearing because of a fever, then she became mute (哑的), too. From then on, her world was silent. But she didn't know this at first. At the age of five, when her schoolmates in kindergarten (幼儿园) played a game about sound, she discovered that she was different from others. She was very sad about it. Her father went to many places to look for the best treatments for her illness. But nothing worked. When she was seven years old, she went to a school for deaf and mute children. In that school, she did well in her studies. Her teacher said she was good at expressing her feelings through dance.

    She also began to love dance and dance became her favorite. She thought she could use dance to express what she thought about life. She worked hard at it and her hard work made her successful. She has been to many other countries to perform and many foreigners like her style.

    Coffee has long been one of the most popular 1 in the world. In 9^th century Arabia, it was first recorded 2 people drank coffee. Planting of coffee first 3 in Yemen, in the Middle East, in the 15^th century, and it 4 to take coffee plants out of the country. However, plants were eventually smuggled to India and 5 there to Europe. The first coffeehouse in London 6 in the 1680s, and soon they were hundreds all over the city. Coffeehouses were known as 'penny universities'7 you could buy a cup of coffee for only a penny and learn more at the coffeehouse than in class!

    In 1690, the Dutch introduced coffee farming to their colonies in Indonesia. Coffee 8 South America several decades later, when the French brought a coffee plant to the island of Martinique. When a rare plant disease destroyed the coffee plantations of Southeast Asia 9 the mid-19^th century, Brazil emerged as the world's 10 coffee producer, which it 11 is today. The first automatic coffee 12 machine was produced in France in 1822 and instant coffee was first marketed in 1909.

    To give you 13 idea of the popularity of coffee, Starbuck Coffee opened its first store in 1971 and today has over 5,000 locations in more than 20 countries. Why is coffee so popular? People believe that coffee gives you energy so it14 you concentrate on work. It also tastes15, and everyone has his or her favourite type of coffee: cappuccino, espresso, iced, mocha.

    Every year several thousand people die in the car accidents in Great Britain, and more than one hundred thousand people are hurt.

    There are rules to make roads safe, but people do not always obey(遵守) the rules. They are careless. If everybody obeys the rules, the roads will be much safer. How can we make roads safer?

    Remember this rule. In Great Britain traffic keeps to the left. Cars, buses and bikes must keep to the left side of the road. In most other countries traffic keeps to the right.

    Before crossing the road, stop and look at both sides. Look right and left. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, it is safe to cross the road. If you see small children or very old people, help them to cross the road. We must teach our children to cross the road safely. We must always be a good example. Small children must not play in the street.
