Before graduating college, Jackie began to look for a job. She aimed at a famous company, but the 1for such jobs was very strong. The company Jackie chose planned to employ only one person, but more than twenty people applied for the job. 2 , Jackie was one of the three people invited for the final interview. The interview was very   3. The interviewer asked just a few questions and it was all over in less than 10 minutes. Then the interviewer said to them," All of you are very good.     Three days later, Jackie received a message saying she would not be    5the job. She felt deeply disappointed. That evening, however, she received another 6. This time it said that she got the job.

    At 5:15, I hurriedly drove to the school. I was out of breath by the time I knocked on the teacher's door. She opened the door and took me aside. "I want to talk to you about Jonathan," she said. I prepared 4 for the worst. Nothing would 5me.

    "Did you know Jonathan brought flowers to school today?" she asked.

I nodded, 6my favorite bush and trying to hide the hurt in my eyes.

"Let me tell you about yesterday," the teacher said. "See that little girl? Well, yesterday she was almost 7. Her mother and father were going to divorce (离婚). She told me she didn't want to live, and that she wished she could die. I watched that little girl cover her face with her hands and say loudly enough for the class to hear,  8loves me.' I did all I could to make her happy, 9it only seemed to make matters worse."

    "I think you wanted to talk to me about Jonathan," I said.

    "I do," she said. "Today your son walked 10over to that girl. He handed her some pretty pink 11 and said quietly, 'I love you'."

    I felt my heart swell (膨胀)with pride for what my son had done. I 12 at the teacher. "Thank you," I said, reaching 13  Jonathan's hand, "you've made my day."

    Later that evening, I began pulling weeds from around my azalea bush. As I thought of the love Jonathan 14the little girl, a poem came to me, "…these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is 15." While my son had put love into practice, I had only felt angry. However, now I felt the seed of love that God planted in my family and it began to bloom once again in me.

    I like Saturday and Sunday because I don't have to go to school. 1do my mum and dad. On Saturday and Sunday I do not need to get up 2. Then I eat a light breakfast at about 8: 30. I always finish my homework on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, I do some housework. I also clean my own room and wash my own clothes. I think doing some houseworkis 3. In the evening, my family usually watch TV together and we talk a lot about the TV programmes. On Sunday, my parents and I go to see my grandparents. We go there by bike. It's a kind of good 4. Sometimes we go to the cinema or parties, 5we have a wonderful time at weekends.

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 on April the 23rd. His father was an important man in the town, so Shakespeare had a good childhood. Shakespeare probably went to school but not university. He got married when he was 18 to Anne Hathaway and the couple had 3 children.

Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets. He began working in his hometown of Stratford, but by 1592, he began writing in London. He became rich enough to buy a house in the capital and another in Stratford. He wrote sad stories called tragedies (悲剧) like Romeo and Juliet, funny stories called comedies, romantic stories and stories about history, such as Julius Caesar.

Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616, almost 400 years ago. But why are his works still popular today? His works looked into common human themes (主题) . They are a part of human nature today as they were all those years ago and in modern soap operas and Hollywood films.

We feel Shakespeare's influence (影响) on the English language today. We talk about "fair play", meaning honest behavior, and this phrase was first used by Shakespeare. And it was Shakespeare who came up with the expression of "disappear into thin air", which we still use it today when we lose something. Besides, Shakespeare's works have been translated into many other languages in the world.
