In the United States，every year, Thanksgiving Day is on the fourth Thursday of November．People in Canada also celebrate Thanksgiving Day. But because Canada is in the north of the United States，so it is colder and the harvest comes earlier in the year．In Canada，people have Thanksgiving Day on the second Monday of October．

    The harvest brings a lot of food to people．On Thanksgiving Day people in Canada and America like to have a big meal with their friends and family just like what Chinese people do at Mid-Autumn Festival．Many Canadians and Americans put flowers，vegetables and fruits around their homes．

    At a Thanksgiving Day dinner, many Canadians and Americans will eat turkey, potatoes and pumpkins pie．These are food like the food of many years ago．They are saying “Thank you” for the harvest that comes every year．

    In the world, soccer of football is the most popular sport. This is because many countries have wonderful teams for the World Cup. The World Cup is held every four years.

    To remember 2002 FIFA World Cup ,children from different countries and more than 60 children from Japanese schools came together and spent three weekends drawing a big picture called “Dream(梦幻) World Cups ”in Japan .The children drew animals, flowers and people playing soccer under a bule bright sky. They wished each football team good luck by drawing the flags(旗帜)of all the countries that will take part in the World Cup in Japan and South Korea. The picture was put up in a park near a playground in Yokohama .Some football teams will have games there.

    Are you a football fan(迷)？The World Cup makeds more and more people interested in football Teenagers(青少年)like playing and watching football .Many of them love some football stars so much that they get the pictures of their favourite players on the walls of their rooms. That is the way to show their love for the World Cup as children in Japan.

    Comic books usually tell stories through cartoons. The US and Japan have some great comic books. But they are not the same.

    Their names are different. People say "comic books" in the US but "manga" in Japan.

    American comics are often about superheroes—characters like Superman and Spider Man. So action is a major part of American comics. But Japanese manga like to tell stories of ordinary people. Luffy in One Piece is such an example.

    American comics make people excited with super powers, while Japanese manga comfort(安慰) people with moving stories. Natsume's Book of Friends is about a teenage boy. He can see spirits（精灵）. He is confused(困惑的) at first but later he makes friends with spirits.

    If you are not interested in these two kinds, why not try some from China? Xia Da, 32, is a great comic book artist from China. Some of her comics are about school life. Others show the beauty of Chinese culture.

    How important is your appearance? Although everyone wants to be good-looking, are beautiful people always happier people? For example, it must be a problem to be a really beautiful woman, because some people may be more interested in looking at you than talking to you. They think of you as a picture rather than a person.

    Some people think that women who are exceptionally(格外地) pretty and men who are particularly handsome must be stupid. They believe that only unattractive(无魅力的) people can be intelligent(智慧的).

    On the other hand, no one wants to be really ugly, and have a face that even your mother doesn't want to look at; and no one wants to be plain, either--that is, to be neither attractive nor unattractive, and have a face that is easily forgotten. Being attractive is like being rich. It can help you find happiness, but it doesn't always make you happy.

    So maybe the best thing is not to worry too much about how you look, but simply try to be an interesting person. For interesting people have interesting faces, and interesting faces are almost always attractive.
