Our dog Abbey died last month. My 4-year-old daughter Lucy missed her a lot and asked if we could write a letter to God to make sure he could look after Abbey well. I told Lucy that I thought we could, and she dictated(口述) these words:

    We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Lucy and addressed it to God/Heaven. Yesterday, we received a package addressed "To Lucy" with this note:

    Imagine this. Somebody hides free books in the subway for you to find and read. Sound exciting? Well, British actress Emma Watson, 26, is doing it! She is known for acting as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies.

    Watson hid 100 copies of a book called Mom & Me & Mom (2013) in London's subway. The book is an autobiography（自传）from US writer Maya Angelou. It tells about the writer's relationship with her mother. These books were put in different places in the subway. People saw Watson doing the same thing in the New York Subway this month.

    With each book, there is a handwritten note by Watson. She asked people to "take special care" of the books if they find them. She also wrote that "when you are finished, please leave it on the subway again for someone else to find".

    Watson's work is part of a movement called Books on the Underground. It calls on people to leave their books on the subway so other people can enjoy them too.

    Hollie Belton, a woman in London, started the movement in 2012. She loves reading on the subway. She noticed that a lot of people shared her habit, so she got the idea. Over the years, Belton has left over 2,000 books of her own. The movement has attracted more and more people.

    Watson is a book lover as well. That's why she tried it. Earlier this year, Watson set up her own online book club Our Shared Shelf. She reads a book every month with others. Mom & Me & Mom is the club's book for November.

    Bob was only seven years old. One night Bob was at home alone while his parents were out for a party. He had often stayed alone before, so he wasn't afraid. As he waited for his parents to return home, he watched a film on TV. His eyes became heavier and heavier as time passed by.

    Suddenly Bob's eyes opened wide- what was the sound in the next room? Bob heard the window being opened slowly. For a minute, Bob was so frightened that he could not move, and his body felt like ice. He knew that he couldn't lose his head and began to think of the things he could do.

    Again he heard the sound of someone trying to climb into his home through the window.

    Bob's drums were standing in the corner near the TV. "Wait, maybe there is something I can do," thought Bob. He beat his drums as hard as he could. The sound was so terrible that Bob surprised even himself. He also surprised the man in the window, who ran away as fast as possible. How clever he was!

    Zheng He was an amazing man. He was born in 1371. Eleven years later, he was caught by the army of a rich young man called Zhu Di and made to work for him. Over time the rich man saw that Zheng He was very clever and strong and they became close friends. In 1403 Zhu Di became the emperor of China and he asked Zheng He to join his government.

    The emperor wanted to learn more about the world and show other countries his power. He ordered many new ships to be built and made Zheng He their leader. Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He led seven sea trips to different parts of the world. He certainly travelled to India, Africa and the Middle East. A few people think his ships have even reached South America and Australia.

    Each trip lasted between two and four years and it is believed that he sailed more than 50,000 kilometres during the years of his travels. Zheng He led a fleet with about 28,000 men and over 300 ships, such as boats for food, water and even soldiers' horses.

    On these trips he brought with him many Chinese goods like silk and medicine to give to foreign kings or to sell for local goods. He returned from each trip with boats which were filled with expensive things such as gold and treasure, foreign guests and strange animals like a giraffe.

    It is a pity that we may never learn everything about Zheng He's travels. The Columbus of the East, Zheng He, died in 1433. After that, the new emperor had these trips stopped and he burned almost all the books about Zheng He's travels, because he believed the trips were unlucky and too expensive. It is only in the last 50 years that historians have begun to carefully study the adventures of great Zheng He.

It was the last day of our final exam. On the steps of one building, a group of engineering (工程学) students were 1 their exam, which would begin in a few minutes. There was 2 on their faces. This was their last exam—then on to graduation and jobs. After four years of college, they felt 3 to see the world. 

The exam, they knew, would be easy. The professor (教授) said they could bring any books or notes they wanted. They entered the room. The professor 4 the papers. And smiles became bigger as the students saw there were only 5 essay (论文) questions. 

Three hours passed. The professor began to collect the papers. The students no longer looked confident. 6 they looked scared. The professor asked "How many of you finished all five questions?" Not a hand was 7 . 

"How many answered four?" Still no hands. "Three? Two? One; then?" But the class still stayed 8 . The professor put down the papers. "That is exactly what I expected, " he said. "I just want to tell you that9 you have finished four years of college, there are still many things you don't know. The questions you could not answer are about things you will work with every day."

Then, smiling, he added, "You will all pass this course, but remember——although you are now college graduates, your education has just started." Not everyone remembers this professor's name. But 10 of his students remember his final lesson. 

Do you know Gui Haichao? He is the first astronaut with glasses. In May 2023，Gui Haichao joined the Shenzhou 16 mission （太空飞行任务）.After five months，he successfully came back from space.

Gui Haichao is from a small town in Yunnan，China. His parents are farmers. He has a dream.He likes looking at the sky. He has two idols （偶像）.They are Qian Xuesen and Yang Liwei. He wants to be an astronaut like Yang Liwei.

To make his dream come true，he always works hard and tries his best to learn.  His teachers and classmates all think he's very hard-working. Every morning，he is the first student to get to the classroom. Every evening，he is the last one to leave. He is good at Maths，and he thinks a healthy body is important，too. So he often runs and rides a bike at the weekend.

Gui Haichao is a hero（英雄）.He is the pride （骄傲） of Chinese people.
