One year ago, I was in great trouble. I worked hard at English and devote all my spare time to practise it. But I failed to pass the mid-term examination, which made me great disappointed. So I asked my grandpa for help when I got to home. Hearing that I told him, he said, "Examination results are sometime unexpected. You can't judge your progress by one examination." He encouraged myself to work hard for long time to check my results. I took my grandpa's advice. Now I realize that the process of learning is much more important and my English is more better than before. From my experience, I feel that we should listen to opinion from old people.

Knowing that our library is going to buy books, I'd like to give some advices.

Popular science books is what we need most. Usually popular science books explain basic principles of nature in a simple and interesting way. They helped us understand science better and arouse our curiosity scientific discoveries.

In addition to read for knowledge, we read for fun and inspiration. That is why I recommend other category of books: literary books. Classic works, written by masters, present great thoughts through fascinated stories and language. They not only offer us a joy and excitement, but also encourage us to think critical.

I'll be glad whether you can consider my recommendation.

We had a dog naming Doudou, and he loved to ride in the car. But one day, on a trip to the shop, our car was stolen for Doudou in the back seat. We called the police but put signs up all over the town. We were desperate and has started to believe we would never see our beloved pets again. But after four days, Doudou dragged himself up our driveway, exhausting and starving. After talking to the police, we found out that a car had been driven about 35 km off and abandoned. We were amazed that Doudou could manage get himself out of the car and find her way home.

I'm writing to request a valuable chance to be one of the host family for the British students. We have a large and clean house, where lies in a beautiful area of the city. I'm good at English and my parents are all professors of English, so I'm sure we won't have difficult communicating with English speakers. My father is a excellent driver and we will be very glad to show foreign students around some nearby places for interest in our own car. Last month we were received two American students. We have a great time. However, my mother cooks well, so the students will be able to enjoy delicious Chinese food. I would greatly appreciate if I could have the chance to make friends with them.
