I hadn't got exercise lately and felt a bit dizzy. I was a little1 . One of my friends invited me to show up to see a2 that they said would help me feel better. Little did I know that I was about to see something I would never forget.

He then began to sing as he played, and it was even more beautiful. For some reason,6 , I knew that I was seeing something special. Ten minutes later, someone came on the stage and7 a video of Patrick Henry Hughes.

Patrick was born with no eyes and a tightening of the joints which left him8 for life. Before his first birthday, he9 the piano. On his second birthday, he asked to play it. His father was10 . "We might not play baseball, but we can play music together. "

Today, Patrick is a11 at university. His father attends classes with him and he has made nearly all "A" s. He is also a trumpet player of a band. He and his father do it together — they12 all the band practices and the half-time performance in front of thousands of people.

But even more than his13 musical talent, it was Patrick's attitude to gratitude that touched me. I will never forget that night, that smile, that music, but most importantly, that14 attitude to gratitude. Gratitude can change your attitude,15 your life forever.

A Rare Spotless Giraffe

A female giraffe was born at Brights Zoo in Tennessee recently—but unlike her mother she was born without any spots an unusual one.

Standing 14 to 19 feet tall, giraffes are the tallest land animals in the world. When mothers give birth, the young giraffes are already 6 feet tall, and other than in especially rare cases, they're born covered in brown spots. Brights Zoo in Limestone, Tennessee, announced that it welcomed the birth of a reticulated giraffe (网纹长颈鹿) without any spots on July 31st.

"Giraffe experts believe she is the only solid-colored reticulated giraffe living anywhere on the planet," the zoo said. The zoo's director, David Bright, said zoo staff had been reaching out to zoo professionals across the country inquiring about how unusual the giraffe could be. Zoo officials said the only record of a reticulated giraffe being born without spots was in Japan in the 1970s.

Mr. Bright said that the new giraffe might not have survived if she had been born in the wild. "Being solid-colored, she may not be able to hide quite well," said Bright. He also thought it was likely that the giraffe would be a "key target for illegal hunters" because she's so unusual.

Pictures of the young giraffe can be seen on the Brights Zoo Facebook page. In a picture, she, without her spots, stood next to her mother, a normal giraffe, in stark contrast. The zoo is asking the public to help name the newborn. People can choose one of four names available on the zoo's Facebook page. The names and their meanings are: Kipekee, meaning unique; Firyali, which means unusual or surprising; Shakiri, meaning she is most beautiful; Jamella, which means optimistic.

Bright said that the zoo looked at thousands of names and their meanings before settling on the four available. "Those four are the four the family really loves," Bright said. "So if she's named one of those four, we're very happy."

According to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, there are only about 16, 000reticulated giraffes left in the wild — a more than 50% drop from approximately 36,000giraffes 35 years ago. There are about 117, 000giraffes across nine subspecies(亚种).Many of them are endangered or critically endangered.

Sharifkhuja has loved Chinese movies and culture since childhood. His father is also a huge fan of China. Before his {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(graduate)from high school, Sharifkhuja's father suggested that he learn Chinese and go to China in the future.Having studied Chinese for two years in Tajikistan, Sharifkhuja finally came to China {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ( pursue) his dream.

After five years in China, Chinese language and calligraphy {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(become) a part of his life. In his first calligraphy class，Sharifkhuja said that writing with brushes was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}amazing experience, which could help him feel the spirits of Chinese culture. Besides，{#blank#}5{#/blank#} he enjoys most is traditional Chinese music. Sharifkhuja is willing to share his experience in China with his family and friends and introduce Tajik culture to his Chinese pals.

However, no matter what Sharifkhuja chooses, his future will be {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( close ) related to Chinese.

Colorado's grays peak rises 14,278 feet above sea level, high enough that trees can't grow toward the top, though there are plenty of shrubs and rocks. It was in this unforgiving landform that Bev Wedelstedt was unlucky enough to get seriously injured in her left knee.

It was August 2018, and Wedelstedt, 56, was on her way back down the trail with three friends. A storm was brewing, and they were anxious to get off the mountain. When they approached a rocky drop of a couple of feet, Wedelstedt decided to leap. She landed on her left leg. Then she heard the snap. Every step after that was agony（剧痛）. Before long, she had to stop. As one friend ran down to get help, a number of other hikers, all strangers, attempted to help Wedelstedt down the narrow trail by walking on either side of her to support her weight, but that proved slow and dangerous. "One man was so close to the edge that I could see rocks falling down from where he stepped on them." Wedelstedt says.

Finally, one hiker, Matt, asked her, "How do you feel about a fireman's carry?" Before she knew it, he had lifted her over his shoulder. "Now, I'm not tiny," says Wedelstedt, a former college basketball star. Matt clearly couldn't carry her all the way down by himself. So six hikers and one of her friends took turns carrying her while she tried to make light of a difficult situation: "I told them I wanted to meet a lot of guys, but this isn't the way I wanted to do it." Three hours and two rock-strewn miles later, this human conveyor belt finally met the medics, who took Wedelstedt to the hospital.

She stayed in hospital for a period time. Now she has mostly recovered from her ill-fated hike, but Wedelstedt knows she'll never shake one thing from that day: the memory of the band of strangers who came to her rescue. "I'm still in awe."

Rick Guidotti put aside his career as a fashion photographer to turn his lens（镜头） to people living with genetic, physical and behavioral differences.

He says what changed his perception（看法） of beauty was a chance encounter with an albino （患白化病的） girl."I was just tired of people telling me who was beautiful. Every season that face would change but I was always told who was beautiful. As an artist, I don't see beauty just on covers of magazines. I see it everywhere. So that was my original intention—that opened my eyes a little wider and wider."

Guidotti has created Positive Exposure, a not-for-profit organization that uses photography and video to transform public perceptions and promote a world where differences are celebrated. Guidotti and Positive Exposure are featured in a new documentary called On Beauty.

One of the women featured in the film is Jayne Waithera. "I never thought I was beautiful because nobody said that to me, but meeting him was my profound moment. I remember that particular day. He took my picture and I felt so good like I felt there's somebody who, like, really loves me and sees me for who I am and who sees me more than my condition."

Guidotti is travelling from city to city to promote On Beauty. He says his tour is not about money; it's about the message. "As I travel from community to community, I'm taking photographs and I'm empowering（给某人……的权力） individuals with a positive sense of who they are. They're seeing beauty in their reflection but I'm also empowering their families and they in turn are empowering their communities as well. All is based on the philosophy of change—how you see, how you change."

Cara was nervous before the race. For several weeks,she had been training every day to prepare for it. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(final) the race day came. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} she arrived, her coach was already on the track. Cara started her warm-up exercise under the guidance of the coach. This was helpful to keep {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(she) from getting hurt. 

Cara's friends got there {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(early) than her They let her know that they were there {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(cheer) for her. They all wished her good luck. It was time for the race. All the runners {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(call) to line up on the tracks. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(hear) the signal gun, Cara jump-started from the ground. She began to run as hard as she could. 

Running past the stands ,she heard the voices of her friends cheering her name. Cara kept her energy and continued to keep a good speed. When she rounded the track {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the last time, she and another runner were neck for{#blank#}9{#/blank#} finish line. As the end approached, Cara had put all her effort into those last few {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(foot). She won the race narrowly. Cara was so happy.
