    My father used to work in the city and seldom stayed at home. But he would come back and help to harvest(收割) rice every year.

    One autumn, he promised to help our neighbour, who lost his arms in a traffic accident in 1999, to harvest his rice. After father harvested our own, his little rice picker broke. What's worse, he had to return to work the next day because his partner was ill in hospital. It meant that father wouldn't be back in a few days. It now seemed impossible to help out the neighbour.

    Father told us that he wouldn't let the neighbour's rice rot(腐烂) in the field. He decided to harvest it by hand without a machine. "If tonight's weather is clear, I think I can do it, "added my father. In fact, he was rather tired after a day's harvest work.

    After dinner, father had a short rest and made his way to the field. A full moon was glowing(发光) in the sky and the weather was cold but clear. He spent the whole night keeping his word.

    I would never forget the image(画面): Father was cutting rice in the light of the harvest moon. Behind him, row after row of rice stocks(秸秆) stood at attention, showing respect for a man who kept his word.

How to become a radio DJ

  Do you have a great voice? Have you ever thought l about becoming a radio DJ? Working as a DJ can be exciting but it also needs experience．If you want to be a DJ，the following are usual ways to start .

     1. Intern(实习)．It's a dirty job．Unluckily，most radio station workers start as an intern．This means working long hours without pay．It will help you do better at the radio station．   

    2. Events．Because you can't get a DJ job with no experience，you might want to work as a DJ for events. Weddings，parties and special situations all need DJs to  provide the music and some laughs．This is a great way to learn to work with people and play music．

    3.Fill in(替补)．If you work at a radio station，you can ask to be put on the ‘‘ fill in ” list for DJs．So if the main DJ gets sick，you can fill in for him or her to get some experience．

    4.Late，late night．Usually the first job for a DJ is the late shift(晚班)．In other words you may be on air not only from l a．m．to 5 a．m．，but you will get more experience·

    Last year, Tom left school. He went to Beijing to look for(寻找) a job. He went from one company(公司) to another. But he didn't get one. He had only a little money. So he had to go back to his home. Then he came to the train station.

    When he got to the train station at night, there were many people buying tickets at the station He bought the last ticket. He felt happy.

    At that time, a young woman with a baby walked to him. She asked him to sell her the ticket. Tom gave her the ticket, because he thought they needed it more. After the train left, he didn't know where to go. Just then, an old man came to him and said, "Young man, I saw what you did to the woman. I have a big company. I need a good young man like you. Would you like to work for me?" Tom was so excited that he couldn't say a word.

    Lucy likes English very much. She studies hard. She reads English every morning. She likes speaking English. She often listens to the radio. She likes watching TV. But she only watches it on Saturday evening.

    She doesn't like dancing. But she likes singing. She sings well. She likes driving a car too. Her parents like her. And all the teachers like her, too.
