Henry. I have a dog! She's yellow and white and her {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is Amy. She is only five months old, but she is cute. She likes playing {#blank#}2{#/blank#} me and she also likes playing with the hall. She is friendly to us and all of my family {#blank#}3{#/blank#} her. Oh! Sally is an 8-year-old girl. She likes 1 very much. She thinks they are people's friends. Of all the animals, pandas are her favorite because the panda is one of 2 , and she goes to the zoo to see them every month.

One Sunday afternoon, Sally goes to the zoo with her parents by bus. When they3 there, she runs to the pandas' house quickly. There are two pandas in the zoo. They are Lucy and Lily. She is happy 4 them every time.

But when Sally gets to the pandas' house, she sees lots of people talking in front of the house. And it's kind of 5 . "What's wrong with the pandas?" Sally asks anxiously(焦急地).

"Oh! Don't worry(担心), little girl. The pandas are 6 ," an old woman answers.

Then Sally looks into the house. Lucy and Lily are in the house. They 7 with a ball. And she also finds another panda in it.

"8 is he?" she asks.

"He's Peter. He 9 another zoo," a man in uniform(制服) says. "Next year, you may see a small panda here."

"A small panda! I love that," Sally says 10 ．

As many as 110 middle and high school students from more than 90 countries and regions(地区) took part in the 16th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for ForeignSecondary School Students. The competition ran from Oct 16th to Oct 30th in Beijing and Yunnan last year. In it, they took cultural trips and answered questions about Chinese characters(汉字) and Chinese culture.

Attracted by Chinese dramas

Folke Borgstorm is an 18-year-old from Sweden. When he visited Beijing for the competition, he bought a jade necklace(玉石项链). Borgstorm said he knew about jade from a Chinese TV show. "A main character in the TV show wears jade and it makes him look cool. Jade can have many colors like green, red and white," said Borgstrom. He became interested in it and started to learn more about it.

Botgstorm also enjoyed watching popular short dramas. "Most Sweden TV shows tell of boring everyday life," he said. "But Chinese shows have interesting stories."

Amazed by a Chinese host

Many of the students hoped to learn more about Chinese culture on the trip, but Ai Akasaki, from Japan, wanted to meet her idol, Sa Beining. Sa is a well-known host in China. The 16-year-old girl watches the Spring Festival Gala(春晚) every year and likes the funny Sa. "I also watched other shows Sa hosts, like Everlasting Classics(《经典咏流传》). In those beautiful songs, I found Chinese poetry is as beautiful as Japanese haiku(俳句)," said Ai.

Unluckily, she didn't meet Sa this time. But she wants to be a journalist(记者) in China and work with Sa one day.

Once Mr. King had a cat, and he loved it very much. He called it "Sky", because he thought "Sky" was the strongest name in the world.

One day he had a meal at a restaurant with his cat. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} He told him about his lovely cat and its name. His friend said," {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Sky is not the strongest thing in the world. My cat is called 'Cloud', because cloud is stronger than sky." After hearing this, Mr. King called his cat" Wind". {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

After a few days he suddenly thought that "Wall" was stronger than "Wind". {#blank#}4{#/blank#}So he went to his friend to ask for an idea. His friend said,"Don't you think' Cat'is stronger than'Mouse？'""{#blank#}5{#/blank#}"

The man thought and thought and then decided his cat's name had better be"Cat" ,because a mouse was always afraid of a cat.

 Last month we {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ( ask) our students about their free time activities. Our questions were about exercise, use of the Internet and {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( watch) TV. Here are the results. 

 We found that only fifteen percent {#blank#}3{#/blank#} our students exercise every day. Forty— five percent exercise four to six hours a week. Twenty percent exercise only one to three times a week. And twenty percent do not exercise at all. 

 We all know that many students often go online, but we were {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( surprise) that ninety percent of them use the Internet every day. The other ten percent use it at least three or four times a week. Most students use it for {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( funny) not for homework. 

 The answers {#blank#}6{#/blank#} our questions about watching TV were also interesting. Only two percent of the students watch TV one to three times a week. Thirteen percent watch TV {#blank#}7{#/blank#}( fourth) to six times a week. And eighty— five percent watch TV every day! Although many students like to watch sports, game shows are the {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( many) popular. 

 It's good to relax by {#blank#}9{#/blank#} ( use) the Internet or watching game shows, but we think the best way to relax is through exercise. It's healthy for the mind and the body. Exercise such as playing sports is fun, and you can spend time with your friends and family as you play together. And remember, " Old habits {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( death) hard. " So start exercising before it's too late. 

Seven years ago，Joyce Akinpe moved to Australia to start a new life，finding an exciting job in Sydney. After the outbreak（爆发）of COVID﹣19，she suddenly lost her job. 

Seeing that there were many others like herself in trouble from the outbreak，Akinpe and her two roommates，Michelle Gomez and Maureen Lee，brainstormed ideas for how to help their local community. They came up with a street pantry（储藏柜）. Gomez said the idea was very simple，"Take what you need and leave what you can. "

With the help of Gomez's father，they built the Blessing Box — a street pantry，with shelves and hanging baskets and two doors made from old furniture. 

It sits just at the back of the three girls' home，so they can look after it. They put some information notices into their neighbors' mailboxes，and the Blessing Box was quickly filled with the donations（捐赠）from the community. "It is the community's strong support that keeps the project alive. " Akinpe said. 

"We now have hundreds of people visiting our box every day. It might only take two hours for the box to be full and next hour it might become empty again. We are now helping others to carry out similar projects in their own communities，too，" Gomez said. 

Lee said things in the box were mostly convenience foods，as well as some necessary life things such as spaghetti and toilet paper. "Few people take everything at once. They think there are other people who need them more. " Lee added. 

There were many people rushing there for donations. The three girls needed to sanitize（消 毒）all the donations and make sure all food packages were not broken. Gomez said that they had no time for rest，but what they did was well worth.
