Round the World

    Mr and Mrs Spencer both had very busy jobs and didn't have much time to spend with their young children. They wanted to change this, and because their hobby was boating, they decided to sail round the world together.

    It took six years to prepare everything for the trip. First, they bought a new boat. Then, both the husband and wife had to take advanced(先进的) sailing lessons and learn all about the sea and the weather. Mr Spencer also did several courses in repairing engines and Mrs Spencer spent an hour in a restaurant learning to cut up fish.

    In October, they had one year off from their jobs and sailed away from England with their two children. The next year, in August, their long journey ended in Australia.

    The boat was not big, but they took a teacher for the children with them. None of them found the trip boring because there were three computers, many CDs, a TV and a DVD player on the boat.

    The family loved being at the sea and seeing the stars in the sky. But, most of all, Mr and Mrs Spencer enjoyed spending time with their children while they were still young.

    The Clean Your Plate Campaign was set up by nongovernmental organizations, which urged people to save food by not wasting anything on the dining table and finish all the food on the plate. The campaign, launched on weibo, was soon joined by millions of netizens across China in order to control food wastage.

    A study show that the grain that people waste every year in China is about 50 million tons , enough to feed about 200 million people for one year.

    Nearly 750 restaurants in Beijing have joined the Clean Your Plate campaign against wasting food by offering smaller dishes, half dishes and assorting dishes to reduce waste, and encourage customers to take leftovers home.

Some advice for safety:

    ①Always play in a safe place. A park is a safe place because there are no cars or trucks. But do not talk to anyone you do not know. Never go with a stranger into a motor car.

    ②Before crossing the road, stop and look both ways. Look left, look right, and look left again.

    ③Keep away from houses or buildings that are being built or knocked down. Something might fall on your head, or you might cut yourself on broken glass.

    ④Medicines or pills can be dangerous. Never swallow (吞下) any pills or medicines you find in the cupboard.

    ⑤Wear a life jacket whenever you go out in a boat, Even if you are not in the open sea and the water is not deep, you should have your life jacket on. It's easy to fall out of boat.

    ⑥Do not put your head out of a car, bus or train. Many children have been killed by doing this.

    The Internet is becoming more and more popular. It brings us a lot of fun and convenience, 但它也引起一些新的问题。Children like the Internet. They would rather communicate with others online than talk with their parents.

    On the one hand, in my opinion, the Internet brings people closer. On the other hand, 如果我们花太多的时间在网络上， we will have less time with our families and friends in the real world.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} A book in rich colors and with simple patterns(图案)such as lines and circles is a good choice for babies of three months old. When they reach six months, they will become interested in simple story books in rich colors.

    When children get old enough to read by themselves, it's necessary to buy books that are both interesting and right for them to understand. Books which are either too easy or too difficult are not good for kids to keep their reading habits.
