During the vacation, I undertook the challenge of learn a new skill: bicycling. I begin with the basic skills of keeping balance and pedaling and gradual improved my command of controlling and navigating.

I enjoyed me and felt the excitement of smoothly moving on two wheels. Beside, conquering my fears and building my cycling abilities led to a sense of achievements.

In the fact, mastering the skill of cycling reminds me the importance of perseverance, bravery and independence. All the qualities are that we need in our future development. Every daily experience enrich my life and connects me with like-minded individuals.

When I was a young boy I was in a poor neighborhood as a foster ( 领养) child. I was1 to spend lots of time alone. I would often wander the neighborhoods on my own and2 to help rake (用耙子耙平) a yard, mow a lawn ( 割草), or wash some walls3 some pocket money just to buy some clothes or candy.

Once I knocked on the door of an elderly woman and asked if she needed her leaves raked in the yard. She asked why I was not in school and I4 her my torn trousers and shoes, which were5 and no longer keeping my feet warm and6 . And when I finished the work she gave me some7 . She said, "I want you to buy some trousers and new shoes and8 school. I also want you to come back and9 me with your report card and I will reward you when I see you have worked hard and have some good10 ."

I returned several times to see the woman in the corner house and she did just as she11 . She looked at my report card and gave me a handful of dollars and a sandwich every time I12 showed her I had an "A" or "B". And over the next couple of years, she continued to be this13 influence in my life as brief as it was and I never knew her name.

I was twelve years old when I moved from that neighborhood into a different home, with another family. I will of course never14 the huge difference this wonderful stranger made over my life with her15 . This is something I hope to do myself in this lifetime over and over again.

The famous Peking opera artist Yuan Huiqin hosted two culture talks {#blank#}1{#/blank#}were called "Charm (魅力) of Peking Opera" in Stockholm and St. Petersburg last year.

The two sessions, as programs of Chinese Culture Talk,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(organize) by the Bureau for External Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture of China, Chinese embassies and local cultural organizations.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(member) of Chinese embassies, famous sinologists (汉学家) and those {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(show) an interest in Peking opera, attended the two culture talks.

The host, Yuan Huiqin, is a national class A artist of China National Peking Opera Company and a winner of the Plum Blossom Prize. During the talks, she {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(patient) shared the charm of Peking opera in more than one way.

With the help of the local sinologists,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(she) talks were translated into Swedish and Russian. These words explored the concepts and artistic characteristics of {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(tradition) Chinese operas, which got audience {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(experience) the distinct charm of Peking opera.

{#blank#}9{#/blank#}addition, young artists from the China National Peking Opera Company performed classic opera selections. During the interaction of the talks, some opera lovers performed with young artists and on{#blank#}10{#/blank#}spot the audience tried costumes (戏装) of Peking opera with great curiosity.

Grief ran through the first decade of my career. I photographed stories about terrible topics: immigration, conflict, war. On the cover of my notebook in 2019, I wrote, "Discover the joy again." It was intended to remind me to play more.

Sometimes I'd get a rare assignment where I could breathe — for example, photographing an article on tea for an airline magazine. I took the job hoping to make interesting, almost movie images, but at the end of the day, I found I'd made nothing of the sort. Packing up my camera, I felt like a failure.

On the drive back to the hotel, I noticed heavy steam rising from a building up ahead. Arriving at the scene, I opened the car door — and realized it was a tourist attraction traditionally pulled by a steam engine. Then, out of nowhere, a figure ran toward me. I picked up my camera and quickly made three pictures. One was out of focus. One was poorly composed. But one worked.

When I submitted my pictures to the editor for the tea article, this one wasn't chosen to be published, but I knew it meant something to me. I had been looking for good luck in my own life. This photograph symbolized exactly that.

I was 27 when I first traveled to India after the sudden passing of my father. Over many months, with my best friend, I traversed India with no phone, with limited Internet, and with healing as my compass. I climbed mountains, swam in the sea, and lived in relief entirely.

As I learned to travel to some of the world's cities with the largest population, I began to see life with more color and magic. I permitted myself to walk aimlessly, with no goal but to observe, and each moment became a dance. If this journey taught me anything, it's that what comes next will bring its own magic.

In 2009, Kevin Pearce was at the height of his professional snowboarding career and bound for the Winter Olympics. But in an instant, it came to an end. During training, he struck his head on the edge of a pipe, resulting in a traumatic (创伤的) brain injury. It changed the course of the then-22-year-old's life.

He had to relearn how to walk and talk and essentially start over. His older brother Adam quit his job and moved across the country to help him through rehab.

He eventually started doing yoga, and his family saw how it transformed him and gave him a sense of hope: "It was the first time I remember so clearly coming out of a class with him and just seeing in his face this new expression, this new person." Adam Pearce said, "We were like, ‘We need to figure out why and how that just happened.'"

Wanting to bring hope and healing to others through yoga and meditation (冥想). Adain and Kevin co-founded the Love YourBrain Foundation in 2014. The nonprofit offers week-long meditations and community-based yoga classes across the United States for people who are living with long-term brain-related disabilities. "I think people feel isolated after brain injury because they don't feel able, and when you don't feel able, you generally retreat back inside." Adam said, "At these retreats, people are given the space to lean into those deep challenges and express them and talk about them."

Ultimately, the organization aims to create a safe space and supportive community where people with brain-related disabilities can heal together. "Connection happens quickly because there's such a shared common understanding among the group." Adam said. "Once someone sees someone be vulnerable, it instantly allows the next person (to be). By the end, people start to see vulnerability as a superpower."

I always miss Grandma. Settled in the armchair, I often find myself 1  by the fond memories of my grandma. Her influence was as gentle as a summer breeze(微风), yet 2 . 

" Love, " she would say, " is the most 3  force in the world. " Her words were not just a lesson but a 4  light that led me through life's journey. She taught me to love 5 , to give selflessly, and to always find joy in the simple things. She effortlessly wove(编织) those 6  into the fabric of my being. 

Now, as I sit with my grandchildren, their eyes wide with 7 , I find myself recounting the  8  Grandma told me. I show them how to take care of the garden that Grandma once lovingly  9 , where each plant holds a tale of patience and growth. We bake cookies together, just as I did with Grandma, and I 10  as they embrace the joy and affection baking brings. 

The emotion of 11  swells in my heart as I realize the legacy(遗产)I now carry. Grandma's wisdom went beyond time, connecting generations and 12  the gap s that life presents. It's a legacy that I'm proud to 13  to my grandchildren. In this way, the love of a grandma becomes a timeless(永恒的)14 . 

As they grow, I hope they will remember the stories, the lessons, and the love. And one day, when they become 15  themselves, they will still remember the unique legacy of our family.
