People and dogs have been living together for hundreds of years. When did dogs and people become friends? Where did dogs come from?

A group of scientists tried to answer these questions. They just finished a study about the history of dogs. In the study, they looked at the DNA of dogs all over the world and found that dogs, like humans, shared DNA with their family members. The scientists put together a big family tree for dogs. It went all the way back to the animal's beginning.

In this way, scientists learned about the history of dogs. The first dogs lived in Asia. They were born about 33,000 years ago. At first, there were only about 6,400 of them. Their parents were wolves(狼).

The new study answers many questions. It raises some too. For example, what caused wolves in Asia to become dogs all those years ago?

One idea is that their DNA slowly changed and the wolves became dogs in the end. As time goes by, dogs became "man's best friends" Or it could happen the other way around. It was possible that some wolves started living with people before they became dogs. Living with people led to many changes to these wolves. It changed their DNA, so their offspring(后代) became dogs. In other words, it was possible that wolves were our friends before they became dogs.

By studying DNA, scientists now have a much better understanding of the history of dogs. ________.

How exactly dogs came to be our friends is still unclear.

(1)、How did the scientists study the history of dogs?
A、By living with dogs B、By studying the DNA of the dogs C、By studying all the animals D、By making friends with the dogs
(2)、Which of the following is TRUE about the first dogs?
A、They lived in Africa B、They were born 6,400 years ago. C、Their parents were wolves D、There are about 33,000 dogs
(3)、What does the underline word "some" in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A、Wolves B、Dogs C、Ideas D、Questions
(4)、Which of the following can be put in _________?
A、However, there is still much to learn. B、But we still know little about wolves' history C、Because we've learned about dogs' friends. D、So they can explain when dogs became our friends.

Computers can injure you. Most other injuries happen suddenly. For example, if you fall off a bicycle and break your arm, it happens very quickly. But computer injuries happen slowly.

Your eyes

Too much light can injure your eyes, so never sit too close to a computer screen. Your eyes should be at least 50 centimeters from the screen. Remember to look away from it sometimes. This gives your eyes a rest.

When you use a computer, the window should be on your left or your right. If it is behind you, the light will reflect(反射) on the screen. If the windows is in front of you, the sun and the screen will both shine into your eyes.

Your hands and wrists(手腕)

Hand and wrist injuries can happen because the hands and wrists are moved in the same way hundreds of times. If you use a keyboard for a long times, follow these three rules:  1) Rest your wrists on something.  2) Keep your elbows at the same height as the keyboard.  3) Stop sometimes and exercise your hands, wrists and fingers in a different way.

Your back

Some people sit for many hours in front of a computer. If you sit in a wrong way, you can injure your back or your neck. So you should sit with your back straight. The top part of the screen should be in front of your eyes. Your forearms(前臂), wrists and hands should all be parallel to(与......平衡) the floor. If you are sitting for a long time, get up every 30 minutes and exercise your arms, legs and neck.

Enjoy your computer, but use it safely.

How green are you? Do you know how to be green?

We all need a healthy environment, but we produce waste every day and it does harm to our environment.Though we are young, we can still do something to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. Here are some ideas for you.

Reduce

Reduce means “use less”.Don't waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think whether it is really neces sary or maybe the old one will be just as good! When we do buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from abroad.

Reuse

Reuse means "use again".Use things for as long as possible. When we buy things, make sure that they can last a long time.We should look after them so that they will last, and we should repair them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones.Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It's better to use a china cup and a lunch box because you can use them again.

Recycle

Recycle means “change things into something else”.Though it takes energy to change something into something else, it's better than throwing things away or burning them.Find out what can be recycled in your neighborhood and take part in the recycling program. We should also buy products made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save trees.

So please remember three words: reduce, reuse and recycle.

Why do we go to zoos?Millions of people around the world visit zoos each year,but the reason is hard to explain.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}But the animals they see in zoos are little like the toys,cartoons,and decorations that fill their homes. For such children,meting with real animals can be confusing even upsetting

The great interest that children have in animals today might lead one to suppose that this has always been the case.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}That was also when zoos became an important part of middle-class life.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}They lived together with our ancestors(祖先)in a shared natural environment. In the Industrial Era,the human domination(支配)of animals could be seen in the popularity of real-looking animal toys.

Children rode rocking-horses that had realistic features,and they slept with bears,tigers,and rabbits that looked and felt almost real. The Twentieth Century marked a further development—the change of animals into people.

This was the age of Babar the Elephant,Hello Kitty,and the Lion King. Parents and children had previously wanted animals that looked like animals. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

In a zoo they hope to see the living breathing versions of their character friends. They find instead unfamiliar creatures who cannot speak,smile or interact with them. For this reason,a visit to the zoo can be disappointing for children today. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Meeting real animals reminds us forcefully of the boundary( 界 限 )between imagination and reality. When we visit animals in a zoo,perhaps we will recall our true relationship not only to animals but to the entire world.

A. Animals are the best friends of the human beings.

B. Many of those visitors are children,whose lives are already surrounded by animals' images.

C. Perhaps that disappointment is the best gift a zoo can offer

D. But now they want animals that look and act like humans

E. Yet,it was not until the Industrial Era that animals became part of childhood.

F. In prehistoric times, there had been no zoos,as animals were a real part of the human world
