Last week our school held a sports meeting. Everyone in our class felt very 1 because we 2 many matches. In the boys' relay race, Michael3 very fast and our class won the first place. Alice did well 4 the long jump and she also won. We're sorry that we did 5 in the high jump than other classes, but we're sure we could do better next time. I took part in the boys' 6 race. I did my best and was the first 7 the finish line. This encouraged 8 a lot. Now I love sports better and I think nothing makes me9 than taking exercise everyday and I believe some day I 10 able to be the best soccer player and take part in the Olympic Games.

    Ann was ill. She went to see a doctor. The doctor asked her to1her tongue (舌头), and then he said,  "OK. You can put your tongue back now. There's2wrong with you, but I'm afraid you have a problem, you never do3"

    "But, doctor," Ann said, "I don't think so."

    "Don't4me what you think," the doctor said, "I see a lot of people5you. None of them get any exercise. They sit in offices all day and in front of the TV in the evening. You must walk quickly for at least 20 minutes a day."

    "Doctor, you don't understand," Ann said, "I take enough exercise every day."

    "I don't want to6any excuses," the doctor said, "You must spend time 7 exercise, if you don't, you will get8 and have health problems."

    "But I walk every day." Ann said.

    "Oh, yes, and I know what kind of walking that is. You walk9meters to the bus stop from your house, from the bus stop to your office, and from your office to your dining-room for lunch and back. That's not a real walk. I'm talking about a walk by the lake or in the park for 20 minutes every day."

    "Would you please 10  me, doctor?" Ann said,   "I'm a postwoman. I walk for nearly seven hours every day."

    For a moment the doctor was silent, then he said, "Can I see your tongue again?"

    He was pleased to learn that Chibi knew all the places where the wild grapes and wild potatoes grew. He was amazed to 1how much Chibi knew about all the flowers in our class garden. He liked Chibi's black and white drawings and put them up on the wall to be 2. He liked Chibi's own handwriting, which no one but Chibi could read, and he put that up on the wall.

    Bu t, when Chibi appeared on the stage at the talent show of that year, no one could 3his eyes.“ Who is that?”“ What can that stupid do up there?”

    Until Mr Isobe announced that Chibi was going to imitate(模仿)the voices of crows. “ Voices?”“ Voices of crows?”

    4he imitated the voices of newly hatched crows. And he made the mother crow's voice. He showed how crows cry early in the morning. He showed how crows cry when the village people have some unhappy accident. He showed how crows 5when they are happy and cheerful. Everybody's mind was taken to the6mountainside from which Chibi probably came to school.

    Chibi made very special 7deep down in his throat(喉咙)to imitate a crow in an old tree in the end. Now everybody could imagine8the far and lonely place whe re Chibi lived with his family.

    Then Mr Isobe explained 9 Chibi had learned those calls--leaving his home for school at sunrise, and arriving home at sunset, every day for six long years.

    Every one of us cried, thinking how much we had been 10 to Chibi all those long years.

    He was a boy beyond our usual imagination!

    Billy's favorite color was orange. But he couldn't see what orange looked like.

    A month after he was born, his mother noticed that his1weren't as big as a normal baby's. "Billy would2be able to see. He is blind. "The doctor said. Even so, with the hope to help Billy learn about the world around him, his mother kept 3everything she saw for him.

    Not just through his mother's4, Billy saw with his ears and hands, too. He had perfect hearing. In fact, he could5many things that normal people didn't notice.

    6Billy lived in the dark, he always believed a dream would light up his life. He found that he was7in computer science. So he began to learn it at seven years old. As a young boy, he8going to Sanford University some day. And for years of efforts, he finally achieved his dream.

    Many people wanted to find out the secret of his9. Billy explained, "Just move forward! Don't let any difficulty 10 your dream from coming true."

    You cannot choose what you are given, but you can choose how you make use of it.

    Playing a musical instrument is a great hobby. I started playing the piano when I was five years old and I still 1 it now: it is a perfect way to relax and can cheer me up when I'm feeling 2. When 1 lived at home with my parents, we had a brown piano in the 3 and I had piano lessons every week. However, when I went to university, I had to 4 my family and my piano behind.

    I enjoyed playing the piano so much that I 5 all the money I got for my birthday on a new electric piano. It was quite 6 to get it from the music shop: I had to ask a friend to help 7 get the piano into a taxi and then move it to the door. I was able to play 8 I wanted, using earphones so that I wouldn't disturb (打扰) my roommates. When I got tired of studying or writing an essay, I would take a 9  by playing something energetic. It really helped me feel relaxed and happy! 10 I was feeling a bit homesick (想家的) , playing music that I learned on my old piano made me feel 11.

    Now I am studying abroad and I don't have a 12 with me. When I'm listening to a tune that I can 13 , I feel nostalgic (怀旧的) about the piano keyboard. I wish that pianos were as portable (轻便的) as guitars 14 I really want to spend time on my hobby. Luckily, there are other activities that I 15 do to relax, like drawing or writing stories.

    Tom was leaving school to be a criminal(罪犯), never to return. He thought he was a lonely boy who was loved by 1. His best friend, Joe, was looking for Tom for the same reason, his mother beat him, 2 , he didn't do anything wrong. The two boys met Huck who 3with their plan about starting a life of crime on Jackson's Island with some food and tools in the boat .

    In the midnight, they landed on the island 5 kilometers away and let the 4 go down the Missouri river. "It is just the life for me," said Tom. "I don't 5 to get up early to hurry to school, and wash, and all those6 things. I'm free now." The other two cheered too. It seemed wonderful for them to live7 on the lonely but happy island. But soon, they found that the life here was hard. They began to miss their parents and friends.

    On Wednesday, Tom returned home and hid under the bed .He heard everyone missed them very much and searched the river ,they thought the boys had drowned(溺亡).

    "Poor Tom, he wasn't really bad, he never8 any harm, and he had a good heart." Aunt Polly said and began to cry. They were going to wait until 9 for their funerals(葬礼).Tom had a new plan in his head, then he went back to his 10 and told everything to Joe and Huck.

    That Saturday afternoon, Aunt Polly's family prepared their 11funeral clothes for the next day with great sadness. Even the weekend was 12 for children, who had no pleasure in their games.

    When Sunday school finished, funeral began in the town church. Almost all the villagers came in black and nobody remembered 13 the church had been so full. Everybody thought they have made a mistake to see only14 in the boys, people all cried.

    Suddenly, there was a slight noise, people all turned around and saw the three "dead" boys walking up the doorway. Aunt Polly, Joe's and Huck's families 15 their boys with kisses and thanks.
