Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love for reading and builds community. It is also referred to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} neighborhood book exchanges around the world. This is a creative idea {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (think) up by Todd Bol and Rick Brooks in 2009, which seeks {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (put) small book exchange boxes right in front of a house or on a street corner to offer free books to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (member) of the local community. Mini libraries of all shapes and sizes exist, from a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (bright) painted wooden house to a library based on Doctor Who's TARDIS.

     {#blank#}6{#/blank#} makes the idea so special? Their website states: "Little Free Libraries have a unique, personal touch and there is an understanding that people are sharing their favorite books with their community. These are not just any old books {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a carefully organized collection. Besides, the library {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (it) is a piece of neighborhood art!"

    Through Little Free Libraries, millions of books {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (exchange) each year among readers of all ages and backgrounds. They also play an important role in remote areas by {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (provide) access to books and encouraging a love for reading.

     Have you ever tasted or perhaps heard of sugar painting? As fewer people choose to make this kind of painting, the traditional Chinese folk craft might have become a {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(distance)memory in some ways.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, a 38-year old craftsman, Li Jianzhong, is committed to{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(keep)the art of sugar painting alive.

     Li worked as a miner for more than ten years. After {#blank#}4{#/blank#}mine closed down, Li turned to housing decoration, until he {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(force) to give that up due to a finger injury. Earlier this year, he discovered sugar painting, something he really had an interest in and a strong desire to learn.

     Since there was no sugar painting craftsman in his village, he studied by {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(he) through large quantities of videos and information on the internet. Li loved painting when he was young, and he found it easy{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(learn) the skill in sugar painting. He soon mastered the skill and could make a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(vary) of sugar paintings. A sugar painting is made with melted brown or white sugar. Craftsmen {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(normal) paint animals and flowers on a stone board with the syrup(糖浆). When the sugar cools down, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}appears is a piece of sugar art.

    A young man, while traveling through a desert, came across a spring of clear water. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} water was sweet. He filled his leather container so that he could bring some back to an elder {#blank#}2{#/blank#} had been his teacher. After a four-day journey, the young man {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (present) the water to the old man. His teacher took a deep drink, smiled {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (warm), and thanked his student very much for the sweet water. The young man went home {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a happy heart.

The teacher replied, "You tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of kindness and love. Nothing could be {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (sweet)." We understand this lesson best {#blank#}10{#/blank#} we receive gifts of love from children. Whether it is a cheap pipe or a diamond necklace, the proper response is appreciation. We love the idea within the gift rather than the thing.

    The falling stars challenge, which began in Russia, invites participants{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(share) their best fake fall and recommend their friends to do the same, and people have been going to make their falls as dramatic as possible. At first, the falling stars challenge{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(regard) as a way for the wealthy to show their{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(possession). People were photographing themselves falling from cars, boats and even their own private jets,{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(lie) face-down with luxurious jewelry, expensive items from high-end brands surrounding them.

    However, as the challenge spread, it transformed from being a way of showing off to a creative way to show {#blank#}5{#/blank#}people consider important in their lives. The social media craze soon made{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(it) way to Weibo, a Chinese social media platform. A major difference with the Chinese version of the challenge {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(be) that professionals from different industries participated to show their daily routine. These include a firefighter lying in front of a row of fire trucks and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}officer at an emergency call center on the ground with documents thrown in all directions.

    While some pictures are intended {#blank#}9{#/blank#}fun online, Chinese authorities are taking it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (serious). Some people who have participated in the trend have received tickets for breaking traffic laws to get the perfect photo.

    The polar bear is found in the Arctic Circle and some big land masses as far south as Newfoundland. While they are rare north of 88°, there is evidence {#blank#}1{#/blank#} they range all the way across the Arctic, and as far south as James Bay in Canada. It is difficult to figure out a global population of polar bears as much of the range has been  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (poor) studied; however, biologists calculate that there are about 20,000-25,000 polar bears worldwide.

    Modem methods {#blank#}3{#/blank#} tracking polar bear populations have been employed only since the mid-1980s, and are expensive {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (perform) consistently over a large area. In recent years some Inuit people in Nunayut {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (report) increases in bear sightings around human settlements, leading to a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (believe) that populations are increasing. Scientists have responded by {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (note) that hungry bears may be congregating(聚集) around human settlements, leading to the illusion(错觉) that populations are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (high) than they actually are. Of {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  nineteen recognized polar bear subpopulations, three are declining, six {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) stable, one is increasing, and nine lack enough data.
