The Ling family did not think they were going home with a pet that day. Annie wanted to visit the animal shelter(避难所). She wanted to see the cats and dogs. She had wanted a pet for years. Her parents were waiting for the girls to be old enough. Annie was seven. Her sister Lily was only three. Lily was still learning how to act around animals. She had a lot of energy!

Annie and Lily were excited to see the animals. A shelter volunteer gave the Ling family a tour. The volunteer talked about why animals came to the shelter. Some were found by the road. Others were dropped off by families who could not care for them.

Finally, the Ling family got to see the animals: There was a cat section and a dog section. They were all so cute! Some of the animals looked scared. This made Annie sad. The volunteer explained that animals need time to get used to a new place. She assured(向......保证) Annie that all the people caring for these animals were kind.

The Ling family walked through the dog section. They started talking. A dog just felt like the right choice. Annie's mom could not take her eyes of fan older black dog with kind eyes. Annie's dad was interested in a large, energetic dog. Annie had found her own favorite. He was a young puppy. He was brown with spots. He had been found near the railway with six other puppies(小狗). Annie could not take her eyes off this dog. She thought he had the cutest face in the world.

Annie pleaded(恳求) with her parents. They did not want to make a quick decision. But they could see in Annie's eyes that she had found her companion(伴侣). The volunteer talked about what a good breed the dog was and that he would be kind with children. That was what the family needed to hear. They decided to take the little puppy home.

O.J.Mayo is a {#blank#}1{#/blank#} in the NBA. He was born {#blank#}2{#/blank#} November 5, 1897. He started playing basketball when he was 8 years old. Mayo {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a basketball star in his school. His teachers thought he was an all-round (全面的) player when he was in Grade One. In his first year on the high school basketball {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , he could play better than many older and bigger players. 

We began to {#blank#}5{#/blank#}him on TV and in newspaper. Mayo has good basketball skills ,and he works very {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. As a high school player, he {#blank#}7{#/blank#} at the sport center before 6 a.m. every day. 

After {#blank#}8{#/blank#} , he would play basketball with his friends and often went home very late."I'm not perfect (完美的), {#blank#}9{#/blank#} I try to be perfect." Mayo says " {#blank#}10{#/blank#} one is perfect, but I just try to get better.

I have twin cousins, Tim and Tom. They look the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} and lots of people can't tell the differences between them. They are tall and thin. They have brown hair and blue eyes, and they always wear jeans and T-shirts. They are both {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in running. 

Unluckily, Tim has a serious illness. He cannot run fast because of his heart disease. Last month, Tom decided to take part in the school running  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} with Tim. Their parents were worried. But Tom said he could help his brother. At last, they finished the race {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

They think it's great {#blank#}5{#/blank#} twin brothers. They really love and care about each other.

 ▲  We organise small-group tours to get closer to nature in Africa, Asia or South America. Go on safari(游猎) in Africa and watch lions and giraffes. Look for tigers in India, or take an elephant safari in Sri Lanka. There will be local guides and a lot of ways of living, from camps to tree houses. 

Cultural journeys You'll visit ancient buildings like temples and palaces in places like India and Egypt — just remember to bring your camera! Also, you can get to know local ways of life by discovering markets, meeting local people and trying their foods. 

Trekking tours(徒步旅行) We have trekking holidays to famous places such as Machu Picchu or the Everest Base Camp Trek. You'll have a great time enjoying nature with a group of new friends. Some of the holidays include camping, but we will give the camps to you!

 Last Saturday, Lily and her family went to the zoo. The weather was sunny and warm, perfect for a day outside. They packed sandwiches, water, and some fruit fora picnic.

 At the zoo, Lily was excited to see her favorite animals— pandas! She learned that pandas mostly eat bamboo and can sleep for more than 12 hours a day. "They are so cute and fluffy!" Lily said with a big smile.

 Next, they visited the lions. The lions were resting in the shade. Lily's little brother, Tom, said, "Look at their big paws! They must be very strong." Their mom explained, "Lions are called the ' king of the jungle' because they are powerful hunters"

 After lunch, the family walked to the bird area. There were colorful parrots, peacocks, and flamingos. The parrots could say simple words like"hello." Lily laughed when a parrot said, "Good morning!"

 Before going home, they saw the giraffes. Lily noticed how tall they were. Her dad said, "A giraffe' s neck can be up to six feet long! That's taller than most people."

 On the way back, Lily felt a little tired, but she was happy. She told her parents,"Today was so much fun. I learned a lot about animals."

There is some good news for the students at Yangguang Middle School. Our school  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(ask) students about their hobbies last week. And based on these results(基于这些结果), we have set up four interest groups. 

The first one is a collecting group. Most of the students like collecting things. For example, some students are interested in collecting {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fan). Some students enjoy collecting money from different countries, like US {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(dollar). In this group, students can collect different things they like, and they can hold some activities to show their collections. 

Sports group is {#blank#}4{#/blank#} second. Many students like doing sports. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it can help them stay fit. Students can play many ball games in this group. And they can also learn how{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(swim) and take part in some sports competitions. 

The cooking group is also interesting. Some students enjoy cooking, and they think cooking {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(bring) them joy. Some students want to make some dishes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} presents for their family. In this group, students can learn to cook different kinds of dishes, including(包括) cookies, noodles and soups. 

The last one is the reading group. Some students like reading books. They think reading gives them many {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(value) things and makes them improve a lot. Students can read any book{#blank#}10{#/blank#} their student cards in this group. 

These are four interest groups. We also plan to set up more groups in the future.
