Hi, my name is Mei Shan. I study in a high school now. It seems that my life has changed a lot in the past few years. For example, I used to be short but now I am tall. I used to have long hair, but now I have short hair because I have no time to take care of it. I used to be afraid of the sea because I didn't know how to swim, but now I am a good swimmer in our school. As for eating, I used to have meat and eggs but now I like eating more vegetables.

  When I was young, I didn't use to read any books, but now I often read some storybooks. When I was in primary school, I used to play ping-pong with my friends after school, but now I have to go home right now and do my homework. I didn't like math and I used to be terrified of tests, but now I like all the subjects and never mind any tests. In the past, I used to have time to chat with my friends online, but now I am too busy to do it. How I miss my old days!

    I love to write! Ever since I was a five-year-old girl, I wrote stories in my notebooks and on small pieces of paper. I told stories to my friends. As a grown-up, I have written over 100 books! That's a lot! As a teacher, it's my goal to encourage all of my students to love to write.

    Writing is easy if you're careful enough, I told them. Everyone I meet is a possible character.

    Everything I see or do is a possible scene in a book. Start looking around you. You'll be amazed at what you discover.

    Anyone can be a writer. You just put your pencil on your paper and write what you like to read, step by step:

    ● Create great characters. If you know your characters well, they'll write the story for you.

    ● Interest the reader right at the beginning. You can start your stories with dialogue or action. If you can make the reader ask questions, then he has to keep reading to find out the answers.

    ● Follow the steps. The steps for every story are almost the same: Introduce the characters and the conflict(争端);things get worse; all seems lost; the hero saves the day!

    ● Balance is the key.

    Remember, when writing, it doesn't hurt to add some humor(幽默).

    [1]Once, when there was a famine（饥荒）, a rich baker sent for twenty of the poorest children in the town, and said to them, “In this basket there is a loaf（面包）for each of you. Take it, and come back to me every day at this hour for more.”

    [2]The hungry children gathered eagerly about the basket, and fought over the bread because each wanted the largest loaf. At last they went away without even ______ the good baker.

    Travel is a valuable experience, because you can not only go sightseeing but also enjoy the culture where you go. But how can we enjoy our travel? Here is some advice to follow.

    Try to get a map of the city and ⑴its public transportation system to download on your phone before you arrive. Then you will still have a method to find your way around even if you don't have WiFi or cell service.

    ▲Ask for recommendations(推荐)

  Make sure to ask someone local for their tips for the top sights to see. ⑵The hotel concierge(礼宾部), your cab(出租汽车)driver, or your waiter will probably be able to tell you which tourist traps (旅游陷阱)aren't worth your time.

    ▲Rent a bike

    There's no better way to get to know a new place than to ⑶bike around. It is faster than walking, but slow enough that you can be tempted(引诱)by the sight of a house museum or quirky(离奇的)shop.

    ▲Skip(精简)the tour

    Generally speaking, walking tours and guided museum visits are long and regimented. So be your own tour guide and choose what you really want to see. Do some research and get ready for your travel before you arrive! It can help you open your eyes and make you enjoy your day.
