Tony was a 15-year-old boy living with his little sister, Jane. Their parents had passed away long ago. Tony 1 Jane by himself.

    One day, Tony woke up at 3 in the morning as usual. When Jane was 2 alone, Tony left their little house m deliver(递送) the newspaper. As he did so, he found something unusual. One3 was sitting in front of his house. Tony was so 4that he stopped to look at him closely. It was a very 5 morning and he looked very old.

    The poor old man didn't have anything to cover himself with. Tony went into his house to get the old man a blanket (毯子), 6there were no extra blankets. Tony thought bard and took his father's 7.     That afternoon, Tony hurried home after school because Jane was12alone. However, Jane and the old man were standing in front of the house, and Jane shouted to Tony, "Brother! He's our 13!"

    The grandfather smiled and said, "Tony. I have been looking for you all around the country for eight years. I'm not 14. But I can take care of you two. Thank you for giving me the coat and letting me know what a 15 person my grandson is. This coat was the very one that I gave my own son, a long time ago."

Jane is a middle school student. She is a beautiful girl. She likes nice shoes and she usually wears new shoes. She thinks new shoes make her look great. 

One day, Miss Lee finds that Jane is unhappy. She asks Jane, "Why are you not happy？" Jane answers, "I want to buy a pair of new shoes, but my parents don't buy them for me. They don't love me. " Miss Lee thinks for a while, and then she says, "Today, I have some homework for you—count(数) your parents' shoes and tell me the number(数量)tomorrow. "

The next day, Miss Lee asks Jane, "Do you count your parents' shoes？"

"Yes, my father has three pairs of shoes and my mother has four pairs of shoes. "

"How many pairs of shoes do you have？"

"Twenty，" Jane's face turns red. 

"Are you still sad now？"

"No, I am not. I don't want new shoes now. My parents do a lot for me. I know they love me. Now I want to save(节约) some money to buy shoes for my parents to show (表达) my love for them. "

Peter lived in a village. He was sad recently because he thought that he had 1 left. One day, Peter went to ask a wise man 2  help. He said to the wise man, "I don't have anything left, so I don't want to live. " The wise man said, "I'm sorry to hear that. " Then the wise man took a piece of paper and drew a straight line down the middle. He explained that he would write down the things Peter had lost on the left side and the things Peter still had on the right side. The wise man asked, "When did your3 leave you?" "What do you mean? They haven't left me. They love me!"

"That's great!" said the wise man. "Then that will be the first thing on the right side ― Family haven't left. Now, do you have freedom?"

"That's a very silly question. Of course I4 !"

"Good! That's the5 one on the right side—You have freedom!" said the wise man, writing it down. 

After Peter was asked some more questions in the same way, he finally understood and smiled. "Things will change when you think of them in a 6 way!" he said. As a matter of fact, change your attitude (态度) and you will change your world.

Born in{#blank#}1{#/blank#} village in Jingning County, Gansu Province, Zhu only received primary and middle school education. His love for {#blank#}2{#/blank#}( read) poetry and books came from his Chinese teacher who has published many {#blank#}3{#/blank#}( article) in magazines."I also wanted to published stories, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}I started to read," he told China Daily.

Although Zhu left school so early, he didn't stop his poetic journey. He worked {#blank#}5{#/blank#} more than 10 cities. Whenever he got to a city, he visited the bookstores and libraries there. He took a notebook to write down paragraphs from books and recite(背诵){#blank#}6{#/blank#}( they).

Most of his favorite poems from the Tang Dynasty, and some of them{#blank#}7{#/blank#}( write) by Chairman Mao Zedong. Why? Because he found them easy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( remember). Over the years, he has read thousands of poems and he can recite more than 1,000 of them now.

Reading poetry {#blank#}9{#/blank#}( help) Zhu stay calm and he never complains about hard work." Whenever I face any difficulty, I think of a famous saying‘ Nothing in the world is difficult for one who sets his mind to it'," he told China Daily.

Zhu's children were {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( interest) in poetry too. They were accepted into universities in different cities.

Gina and Jane are good friends. They are in the same school. They go to school five days a week. They have four classes in the morning and three in the afternoon every day. After school, they often play games. They go home at 6: 00 p. m. 

The two girls' mothers are also good friends. Gina often goes to Jane's home on Saturday. They read books in the morning, play the piano in the afternoon, and watch TV in the evening. 

Jane has a great collection of picture books. Gina likes these books. She can also take some books home. 

The two girls also like eating some fruits. They like bananas, strawberries and oranges, but they don't like eating grapes. Gina's mother can make great fruit salad. She usually lets Gina take some to Jane. Jane loves the food because it is very delicious. What good friends they are!
