In 1901, Karl Landsteiner, an Austrian scientist, discovered that there are four types of blood. These four blood types were named A, B, AB and O. People have one of these four types. Blood type O is the most common around the world. Blood type A is the second most common, and type AB is the least common. If people with type A blood are given type B blood, or people with type B blood are given type A blood, they will probably die.

    In 1927, a Japanese doctor, Furukawa Takeji, carried out research and came up with the idea that people with different blood types also had different personalities(性格). He said that people with type A blood are usually calm and serious; people with type B blood are curious, cheerful and outgoing; people with type O blood are generous and trustworthy; while those with type AB blood are often caring, original and careful.

    More recently, a doctor in the United States wrote a book that links blood types and what people eat. For example, his book suggests people with type O blood should eat more meat and less bread. A diet for people with type A blood includes more vegetables. His book, Eat Right for Your Type, has been a hit with people who want to lose weight. However, Dr. Peter D' Adamo believes that eating food that matches a person's blood type can help them lose weight. He thinks it will make the person healthier in other ways, too.

Last summer holiday, Iwent to Sanya to visit my best friend. When I {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (到达)there, my friend was already at the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (机场)to meet me. One day, I walked into a restaurant for lunch. There were so many {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (顾客) there that the waiters and waitresses were all very {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (忙碌的). I felt very uncomfortable. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (幸运地), I found an empty seat and sat down. After a long time, a waiter came over to me and said politely, "Sir, sorry for keeping you {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (等候). May I take your order?" I asked for a beef hamburger, an apple pie and a Diet Coke. "Sorry, sir. We don't have Diet Coke," he said. I told him that a glass of water would be fine.

Soon the waiter returned with my food and water. After telling me to enjoy my food, he {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (仓促) away. Minutes later, he came back again with a surprise—a Diet Coke. "Where did you get it?" I asked. "I bought it from the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (便利的) store around the corner," he answered. Then said, "But you work all the time. How did you find the time to get it?" "It's my pleasure to offer you good {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (服务), sir," he said. "I don't want to {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (使失望) you." Later, I knew he was also a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (工作努力的) waiter.

Two months later, I went back to that restaurant. The waiter had become the manager of the restaurant. It wasn't amazing for me.

What he did and how he behaved influence me a lot in my life. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (记住) that doing small things can bring a big result. Just go for it.

Last summer, our class attended an English camp. We went there 1 from school early in the morning. We 2 the camp at 9 am. They offered a very good 3 to us after we got off the bus. After eating some delicious food, we watched a show. First, a group of musicians performed(表演) several nice songs. Everyone loved their show and 4 . Next, the Cultural Club performed two dances. All the dancers danced very beautifully. Everyone gave a thumbs-up to 5 .

We went back home at 5 pm. 15 we were all tired, we had an unforgettable day.

 The 16- year- old girl Xu Zhuoyuan from Changsha, Hunan Province, reached the top of Mount Qomolangma on May 15th, 2023. She became the youngest Chinese woman climber to do so.

 The girl's interest in climbing is influenced by her father Xu Jianglei. He was the first man from Hunan Province to reach the top of Mount Qomolangma.

 As a first- year high school student, Xu Zhuoyuan has already had a lot of experience in climbing. She has climbed five mountains, all above 5,000 meters, across China at a young age. She started her dream of reaching the top of Mount Qomolangma at the age of 12 and finally succeeded after years of hard work. To realize her dream, she had continuous training. Last year, she successfully reached the top of Muztagata, a 7,546- meter peak in Xinjiang.

 Being a high school student, she tries her best to do well in both study and mountain climbing. Usually she climbs during her summer and winter vacation. She hopes to continue climbing after she finishes her university studies. She wants to climb to the highest peak in each of the seven continents(大陆). She also wants to be able to reach the North Pole and South Pole one day.
