Near the North Pole there are only two seasons: winter and summer. The winter Nights are long. For more than two months you can't see sun, ever at noon. The summer days are long.For more than two months the never sets and there is no night at all. The weather is cold all the year round. Even summer the temperatures below 0℃. So people there make their clothing with the fur of animals.

    In the cold climate, plants cannot grow. So people have to build their houses with fur, earth, shone or snow. When they go out hunting, they live in the tents of the fur. When they move, they take their tents with them. Sometimes, they build houses of snow. Now don't think that these houses must be cold, it is very warm and safe.

    The life near the North Polo is very interesting.

    It is a Tuesday morning. Ann and her mother are on a big bus. There are many people on it. Some of them come from the U.S. , and some come from England or Canada. They are all friends. They are going to the Forbidden City!

    There are two Chinese on the bus. One is a young man. He is driving the bus. The other is a woman. She speaks English well. She is now talking about the Forbidden City. The other people are listening to her. They like the Forbidden City. They want to see it very much.

    This is Dick' s desk (迪克的书桌). It is in his room. His schoolbag, pencil-box and books are on his desk. Dick has three rulers, two pencils and a pen. They are in his pencil box. A new chair is beside(在……的旁边) the desk and a small ball is under(在……的下面) the chair.

Chairman Mao was a very famous and important person in Chinese history. He gave Chinese people new life. We can live in China better and better. He was a kind man and he cared about every one of Chinese people and their lives. Chinese people were very poor and hungry in old China before 1949. Chairman Mao led Chinese people to found(建立) new China. Finally, all of the Chinese people work for a better life together. We love Chairman Mao. Chairman Mao is the father of new China.

    On Sunday morning, Mr. Baker takes Mike and Joan to a plane to fly home. He opens the door of the plane and lets the children in. Soon the plane begins to up. Joan looks out of the window, "Oh, we're like birds in the sky!" She says. She looks at the houses, but they are like toy houses. Mike looks out of the window, too. He sees some buses. They look like toy buses. The people on the ground look very, very small, too. Then the plane comes down and down, and stops on the ground. Mike and Joan are very happy.
