Started in the year 1970, Earth Day is now celebrated in more than 193countries each year. Every year, the event is celebrated under a different theme. The theme for 2016 is" "Trees for the Earth". Here are five things you can do to celebrate Earth Day (apart from planting trees)and make this a better world for future generations.

Cars, being the greatest source of air pollution, can be left at home this weekend. Traveling by public transport is the better choice. Other greener choices are carpooling, riding a bike or you can also walk if your workplace isn't that far away from your home.

NO, we don't mean you should be dirty. We simply mean to say, don't take a bath every day. A day or two without a bath won't harm you, but it will certainly do a lot of good for our planet. Water saved is the planet saved.

This is one of the best things you can do. Why? Because it will do you good, too. Volunteer to join other tasks. If you have time, you can plant trees, clean a park or simply come up with ways you can preserve mother Earth.

This is one of the most common things that people can do at home, that is, turn off their lights. However, this isn't something you should do just for a day. Save energy by turning off all electricity points whenever they are not in use.

Do something every day that will improve your surroundings and contribute to making the planet a better place to live in. Always remember that every step counts.

Minoru Yamasaki was a well-known American architect（建筑师）．He was born in 1912 in Seattle．Washington．His parents came from Japan．
Minoru went to college to study architecture．Every summer he worked in a fish factory to help pay for college．Often he worked from four o'clock in the morning until midnight．He slept in a room with 100 other men．Later in life．Yamasaki remembered these times and was always good to his workers．
Yamasaki sometimes dreamed about his work．Once he woke up at three o'clock in the morning．He got up and started to draw the building that was in his dream and he still remembered ． Yamasaki used a new design for the buildings．These buildings are now the Century Plaza Hotel，and Tower in Los Angeles，California．
Yamasaki was different from other architects．His buildings give people a feeling of peace and happiness．Many of his designs have pools of water，flowers，and windows on the roof to let in light．He always designed buildings to please people．He wanted to give them a place away from the busy ways of modern life．
Yamasaki worked for several companies．But his success began when he started his own company．In 1956，he won the Architect's First Honor Award for his design of an airport in St．Louis．Missouri．He won two more awards over the next five years．In l962，he designed the World Trade Center in New York．It is very famous．
In l993，a bomb exploded（炸弹爆炸）in the World Trade Center．But the buildings did not fall down because they had a good design．
Yamasaki had strong opinions about his buildings．They had to be built his way．He refused to change the design of his buildings，even if he lost a job．
Minoru Yamasaki died in l986．He designed more than 300 buildings．People will enjoy the design and beauty of his buildings for a very longtime．

Hi, my name is Evan and being the eldest child in the family surely has its disadvantages. First of all, I have to share all my toys and games with my younger Siblings, William and Julia. Of course, they don't need to return the favour because I'm totally uninterested in their things. Besides that, Julia and William are always hanging around me. It's especially annoying when I have a friend over. We look for a secluded place in the house where they can't disturb (打扰) us, but within minutes, they've found us and are asking to join in.I just can't seem to get a moment's peace. At meal times,I have to eat whatever is on my plate regardless of the portion size or taste. William and Julia only need to try one bite when it's not their favorite food. Not only this, but I'm expected to be cooperative (合作的,配台的) at all times because I'm the oldest and need to be a role model for them.

It doesn't seem fair either that I have more chores to do around the house than Julia and William put together. Plus, when it comes to practising our musical instruments,I have to practise more than double the time. Oh, and the worst part of it all is the huge quantities of homework I get compared to them.

I'm feeling rather annoyed wilh my sibling situation. Can you please write back with some advice?

Vienna is a beautiful old city on the River Danube in the center of Europe. It's the capital city of Austria and the center of European classical music. In the 18th century a lot of musicians came to study and work in Vienna.

In the Strauss family, there were two composers called Johann Strauss: the father and the son. The father, Johann Strauss the elder, wrote and played music for traditional dances, called the waltz. His dance music made him famous all over Europe. The son, Johann Strauss the younger, was also very successful and popular. He wrote over 150 waltzes. In 1867 he wrote The Blue Danube waltz.

Mozart was another very important composer. He was born in Austria in 1756. Before he was six, he played not only the piano but also the violin. His family took him around Europe and he gave concerts in many cities. He wrote hundreds of wonderful pieces of music. But he became very poor and died in 1791 when he was only 35. Like Johann Strauss, father and son, he was a great European musician, and many people still think his music is perfect.
