Reading is a good hobby for all kinds of reasons.

    First, reading is fun. You can always keep {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（you） happy if you like reading. You will never {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (feeling) bored or tired.

    Next, you can read a book anywhere—in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} car, on a plane, or even in the bathroom. All you need {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (be) a book!

    Another good reason for reading is that it is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (use). If you read {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a hobby, you will get better and better at it. And you will read faster and find it easier to understand {#blank#}7{#/blank#} you read. As your reading skills improve, you will {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (probable) find your schoolwork becomes much better.

    Some people say that reading is out of date. This is not true. You can read on computers, and the better you read, the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (good) your computer skills will be.

    Good readers may become {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (writer), too. They always have more things to write about.

    This is a true story. One evening, a woman drove home when she saw a truck close behind hers. She drove {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(quickly) to be far away from the truck, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} when she sped up(加速), the truck did too. The faster she drove, the faster the truck drove. The woman felt afraid, so she drove to a main street, hoping to lose the truck in the traffic. But the truck jumped a red light and went on  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(run) after hers.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(final) the woman drove her car into a service station and got out of her car shouting {#blank#}5{#/blank#} help.  The truck driver didn't leave. Instead he went {#blank#}6{#/blank#} of his truck and ran to her car.  He opened the back door, and pulled out a man hidden in the back {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(seat). {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  woman was safe at last.

    From the place where the woman stopped the car, the driver {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (find) a criminal in the woman's car. The driver drove after not to harm her but {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (help) her.

    Do you know what is special about November and June in the UK? They are, possibly, the only two {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(month) with no school holidays. A newspaper recently did a survey among a group of students. In {#blank#}2{#/blank#}survey, 68 percent of the students said that their parents were at work in the school holidays. 73 percent said that they were bored during the school holidays and 35 percent said they were happy to go back to school! The results of the survey show that not everybody {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (want) to have many holidays.

    If you don't want to stay at home, go out and take part {#blank#}4{#/blank#} some interesting activities. A lot of schools organize different kinds of trips during the holidays, especially when they have a one-week holiday. You have many {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (choose) to make.

    Many schools take groups of students to some {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (train) centers. There, students can learn how to do things by {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (they). For example, students learn how to make a camp in the forest. They also learn a lot {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (many) about animals and plants. At the same time, they are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (teach) how to find their way back to the centers.

    In most towns, some other centers offer students different courses,  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}as computer game design, film-making and painting. Students can also go abroad for school trips. They can practice their foreign languages and experience everyday life in different cultures.
