"Which meal do we all need most, breakfast, lunch or dinner?" Miss Baker asks. Boys and girls wave（挥动）their hands in the air. They know the answer.

    "What do you think, Jim?" Miss Baker asks.

    "Dinner. " he answers.

    "Dinner is the big meal of the day. " says Miss Baker. "But I don't think it is the meal we need most. "

    Tom puts up his hand. "Is lunch the meal we need most?"

    "No. " says Miss Baker. " Breakfast is the meal we need most. "

    "Why is this so?"

    "From night until morning is a long time to go without food. "says Ann.

    "That's right. "says Miss Baker. "We need food every morning. What may happen（发生）to us if we have no breakfast?"

    The class have many answers to give.

    "We may not feel like working. "

    "We may feel sick（生病）. "

    "Yes, you are right, "says Miss Baker. "Now, let's talk about what makes a good breakfast. Give me your answers. I will write them on the blackboard. "

    My name is Felix Black. I am from America. I am twelve years old. And I am a student at No. 2 Middle School in Suzhou, Mrs Zhao is our Chinese teacher. My friend is also a student here. Her name is Maria Smith. She is from England. She is thirteen years old. Maria and I are new students at No. 2 Middle School. We like our Chinese class.

There was a photographer (摄影师) who often took group photos of hundreds of people. But there was a 1 that always troubled him—people closed their eyes at the last moment. 

Before taking a picture, the photographer would say 2 , "I'll shout ‘one, two, three'. When I shout ‘three', do not close your 3 !" But at the moment of taking the photo, there was always 4 closing his or her eyes. The photographer was a little angry with these people.

People often ask me for suggestions about how to learn English. As for it, everyone is different. I'll share some of my experience. I once took a school year English course in Wuhan University, but I mostly learned English on my own.

One thing I can tell you is that, once you've started learning, you should try to think in English as much as you can. If you see something when you' re riding your bike or walking down the street, just think about, " How would I say them in English?" At first, it might be with simple words or phrases, but later you should think about longer phrases and sentences. Now I'm in America, and for most of the time, I would think in English and speak it directly. It's amazing how much this helps.

For several years after I started learning, I was often afraid of talking with others in English because I didn't want to make mistakes. Finally, I got it over. And while traveling in America, I'd try to hang out with friends who couldn't speak Chinese, so that I'd have no choice but to speak English. And I also decided that if I said something stupid and other people laughed at me, then so be it. After that, my English started improving much more quickly.

In the northern Thailand, there's an attractive jungle (丛林) where you can sleep right in the middle of an elephant group. I tried it, and it was life-changing.

It's been my longtime wish to get up closer to the elephants. When I discovered the Jungle Bubbles, I was so excited that I jumped at the chance to spend sundown to sunup with elephants as my nighttime neighbors.

At 5 p. m., I was led along a stone path, and there they were: the Jungle Bubbles. There was complete privacy(隐私) with a wooden fence(栅栏), and all I saw and heard were elephants. It seems elephants never sleep. Well, they actually get two or three hours a night, and according to scientists, they may lie down for an hour every few days. Nothing is more interesting than watching elephants closely for such a long time.

When my guide left, it was 5:30 pm. It was still warm, and the light was golden. It was a perfect moment for pictures! I was as giddy as a kid opening presents on Christmas morning when I took pictures of the elephants standing just a few yards away. It was amazingly relaxing here. The only thing I had to do was watch elephants. I took a beer and watched them in the evening playing in a mud hole.

When the sun was down, I sat in the dark listening to the elephants eating leaves and insects buzzing(嗡嗡叫). The stars began to appear in the sky, this surely qualified as one of the most peaceful places on Earth.

One day, New York was struck(侵袭) by a terrible rainstorm. The streets were full 1  water and the underground system almost came to a stop. 

Unluckily, this happened during the morning rush hours. Many people who were going to work were 2  to go home. Some tried their best to 3  a taxi or to get on a bus. Still others faced the storm 4 . walking miles to get to work. 

I happened to be one of the people on the way to work that morning. I went from an underground line to another only to find that most service had 5 . After making my way through crowds of people, I finally found an underground line that was 6 .
