Mr Jackson began his trip last Saturday. Two days later when he was travelling in the country 1 , he saw a dog behind a man. As the car came near them, the dog suddenly started to2 the road. Of course the car hit the poor animal and killed it.

    Some time ago one of my chairs had a broken leg. I 1 think there would be any difficulty 2 getting it fixed, as there were a lot of furniture shops near my home. So I left home one morning with the chair. I went into the first shop expecting a friendly reception(接待). But I was quite wrong. The man didn't even look at my chair.

You've just sold it to me,” he said. “Yes, but I've changed my mind.” “You  9 be crazy,” he said. Then, suddenly the penny drooped. “I know what you want,” he said. “We don't do repairs, not enough money 10 with too much trouble. But I'll fix this for you.”

    Once there lived a poor family in our town. They were so poor that there was almost(几乎)1 in the house but a pot(罐) 2 a broken table. In it there was a little rice. They 3the rice from their neighbour for the coming New Year. On New Year's Eve(除夕夜), the wife already fell asleep, but the husband was 4 in bed, worrying about their life.     “Hey,” he shouted out. The14 woke up the wife. She asked her husband, “Did you hear any sound? Maybe there is a thief in the room.”

    “Shut up! (闭嘴)” replied her husband, “15 to sleep. There is no thief in the room.”

    “That's impossible,”the thief shouted loudly, “If there isn't a thief, then, where is my coat?”
